I thought Jet Li was supposed to have retired from action movies.

I thought the same thing when I first heard about it

Jet Li and Jason Statham in the same movie? I'm there

It will be a good escape...not like Jet Li is going to win an oscar for this one, but it will be a good 2 hours at the movie theatre and worth the price of admission

Weren't they already in "The One" together? That, um, didn't turn out so well.

Jet has retired from period piece martial arts films ala Once upon a time in china, fearless etc

Yes Jet and Jason were together in the One but Stratham's star has risen quite a bit since so should be a considerably better effort

Devon Aoki is also in this movie

and Catalina from my Name is Earl

Yeah, but that was a different dynamic. War seems to basically be, in a nutshell, Statham vs Li. In The One if I remember correctly Statham was practically 5th billed in terms of star power and storyline, behind Li, his evil self, Lindo and Gugino

These days, I'm down for anything Statham is in. Even as horrid as Crank was, it still had its moments, all due to Statham.

Concur. Even in small parts, Statham is fairly riveting. I'll be there opening weekend.

Can't wait for this. I'm a big Statham and Jet Li fan. While I actually enjoyed The One, Statham wasn't really using his fighting ability in that film. Should be more fun this time around.

Yeah, that was one of those movies that I didn't really like, but for some reason can not regret watching it. Also, Revolver is like that for me.

Not to derail the thread, but the scene with him and Amy Smart gettin busy in front of everyone was the best scene in the film. And what a fucked up ending. A giant from me.

Haven't seen Revolver or the One. I'll have to check out both.

I can only watch Statham in Guy Richie movies. He seems like he's trying too hard to be the leading man when he's not there yet.

I don't believe the trailer for WAR showed enough action.

Was that a ninja appearing in a bit part on the trailer? Bring it on! They should have ninjas make a comeback in action movies. The genre has gone too long without these awesome asskickers.

War. What is it good for? Absolutely NOTHING. The least amount of action in an action movie in recent memory. Brutal dialogue and the action we do get isn't exciting at all...Helen Keller could have made a more stylish and thrilling film. I'm honestly shocked by how bad this one turned out - and the final 'twists' are so stupid that it's a good thing we don't give a shit by that point anyway... I'm a fan of Statham and Jet Li but this easily is one of the worst movies of the summer...and it may be the worst of Jet Li's american movies to date...which speaks volumes IMO.
