That is some scary shit. Looks like 28 Days Later set in an apartment building. I'd change the name of the movie though. REC doesn't do much for me.

BTW, welcome to the forum.

Looks pretty interesting. It's directed by Jaume Balaguero, the guy who directed Fragile and Darkness.

Although they haven't been very well-recived (or, in the case of The Nameless, well-treated on DVD) in the US, I've enjoyed all of Balaguero's films so far. Didn't know he was working on something else, so this is a nice surprise. Looking forward to it!

It's being remade for US release. It comes out on Halloween 2008. The remake is called "Quarantine".

That was a pretty freaky trailer. Would love to see this, but I know it'll probably float off into obscurity.

I really enjoyed this movie.

It played out a little slower than I was expecting but it turned out being a great experience, very predictable but well told and directed. Similar to Cloverfield (which Rec does pre-date), but with
Spoiler:
zombies
.

Not surprised a remake is on the way, but that shouldn't deter folks from seeking this one out.

I understand, I'm just impatient. It releases in the UK (theatrical) on April 11th, depending on how well it does there I'm sure a legit R2 DVD will be released long before the US remake hits theaters. I can understand why they bought the remake rights and decided to not release the original first, as I'm assuming the remake will be nearly identical to the original (there are no cultural aspects that need changing). Though I won't be surprised if the remake comes out, does well, and gets released on DVD simultaneously with the original.

I do hope they change one thing, though -- (not really a spoiler but eh)
Spoiler:
the constant reference to "We have to film this!" "People will want to know!" has quickly become a tired cliche

I guess i may sit down and watch it this weekend...it's been waiting for me since the release of Cloverfield, which inspired me to find similar movies.

I've been kinda been following the viral marketing stuff in the remake. Pretty good. I like this set-up.

They showed a clip of Quarantine on Attack of the Show a few days ago. They did mention that it would be a scene for scene remake of [REC]. Quarantine is scheduled for a Halloween 08 release.

This movie rocks, one of the better horror movies to come out in recent years.

I saw the clip but somehow missed the part of it being a remake.

I wanna see the original before seeing the remake.

Whatever you do, don't watch the trailer for Quarantine, it ruins the [Rec] experience

This was a really good movie...far better than I was expecting. Probably the best movie in its sub-genre I have ever seen

It's better not knowing what it is about before watching it.

1) Saw IV left a bad taste in everyone's mouth.
2) It's opening in the middle of the month.
3) Saw V is going against High School Musical 3.
3a) Counter-programing? Maybe, but every female I've seen the Saw flicks with at midnight will be at High School Musical 3 that weekend.
