Glad I am not the only one. I didn't even know the awesome car chase scene had commenced until halfway through. I did like the hubcap falling off, that's about it.

The reason for this and all remakes is because all you 13 to 24 year olds will NOT rent or watch on free t.v. great movies before 1980!
Damn this generation of remakes & samples in music!

I'm 24 and watch plenty of great movies. Bullitt is not one of them.

No. I take it you've never seen True Romance - because if you had you'd know what I'm talking about. Even in Troy he had just a little bit of the stoner speak going on -it's just the way he talks (he's got a stoner "accent").

I think he is a very limited actor who is occasionally put in roles that he doesn't fit.

McQueen was a much better actor - and WAY cooler.

Sort of - except he doesn't use the words, "dude," and "like," as much since it isn't scripted. It's like a slightly slurred Californian accent.

The only reason why McQueen was so cool in Bullitt was because he had an amazing-looking girl and an amazing-looking car. Whenever I think of McQueen, I don't really think of him as being the "king of cool" in Bullitt (Eastwood was so much cooler in DH) but I think of his role in Papillon, which I might also add is one of the best performances I've seen by an actor.

No, McQueen was cool in Bullitt because he played the character cool - very restrained and collected under stress. The girl and the car had nothing to do with it.

OK, the girl had nothing to do with it. Gotta love the car....

I say get Soderbergh to direct (though Fincher would be an interesting choice). I've always thought Clooney would be more suitable in a Bullitt remake, but I'll give Pitt a chance (IF it ever happens).

Good call!

McQueen was cool in the original...yeah, he had the girl and the car, but he could take a scene as simple as getting out of the car and closing the door and making it cool. Pitt will have some big shoes to fill.

Clooney came to mind for me, too. He's not a perfect fit, but better than Pitt.

Actually, I thought Bruce Willis would be interesting. He might be 10 years too old for the part, though.

Don't forget the Mustang had to be seriously tweaked just to keep up with a pretty stock Charger.
