From: Rainy ass Seattle yes the weather sucks here, so do our sports teams.
I admit the villian wasn't the best but he was supposed to be a different kind of villian
Thank you! thank you! thank you!
Finally somebody that understands the god damn villian in this movie.
Can't wait to see it again.

I thought this movie was great, and I wasn't even a big Die Hard fan before this movie. I really had a lot of fun with it, and I must say that if someone had shown me this film and I knew nothing about the rating, I never would have said "Hey, that movie was too soft for a Die Hard film!". It still had violence and action, more than any other PG-13 film I can recall. I can see why they made it PG-13. It worked just fine and opened it up to a larger audience.

They could have used the reporter from DIE HARD 1 & 2 Richard Thurnburg.
In this media age he could have been useful for some comedy scenes.
The the movie is great as is.
I wonder with all the advertizing surrounding movies that Sears didn't use their DIE HARD car battery as some form of advertizing to go with the Die Hard series.

Awesome movie. Thats how you do an action movie!! Not all this touchy feely talking in most modern 'action' movies. Even some comic book movies this year could take a cue. I'm looking at you Spidey.
Die Hard has always been my favorite movie, and it has been nice to see a character evolve at the age of 30's, 40's and now 50.
My favorite line (and I'm paraphrasing) "Oh your talking to 1-800 Dead Asian hooker bitch!" Thats me rolling

Good plot, great dialogue, fantastic action sequences - and the John McClane attitude! And, yes, this WAS John McClane - older, wiser, a John McClane come to grips with the issues he couldn't cope with so well when he was younger, but John McClane all the same.
I'd put this one just a half notch above Die Hard With a Vengeance - which is a good thing since all three previous Die Hard movies were really good.
Best movie of the summer so far.

Finally saw it today and boy was it great. I think the action was great, and I really enjoyed the humor in it. It would have been alot cooler with blood and stuff but thats not a must. I feel sorry for the people who are not seeing it because of PG-13 Raiting. Its just as good if not better then the R rated Die Hards.

Seems a lot of people owe an apology for saying this movie would be bad because of the PG-13. Just like they said the new Bond was a bad choice.
Nobody is man enough to admit they were wrong!

I was looking through the other Die Hard thread and thinking the exact same thing! Everyone was saying how the movie was doomed and there was absolutely no hope for it because of the PG-13. I wasn't at all excited for the film, so I don't think I posted anything negative about the film, but I must say, all that negative talk really did influence my thinking on the film. I didn't really want to see it, but then my friends convinced me to go, and I had an absolute blast. I loved the film. I'd say the movie is more like PG-15. Honestly, if nobody told me it wasn't Rated R, I wouldn't have questioned it.

Although I was one of the people that thoroughly enjoyed the movie, I am puzzled by all the reviews rating it as high or higher than the first. It was a great popcorn flick with tons of great CGI action and stunts. As far as having the grittiness and attitude of the first few it falls far short. The first was not too probable was plausible enough to believe in everything. It was claustrophobic, it was gritty, it was human. They lost all of these elements. Don't get me wrong, it was a B+ or A on the entertainment value, but the character of John McClane was watered down to a parady of himself and references to his last movies. When he was dangling from the building, I was on the edge of my seat feeling the guy could really fall. When he was dangling from the plane I was entertained but never really bought into it as a possibility. My thought was, wow great stunt, great CGI. My feeling; see the movie and be entertained however don't look to recreate the first one. If this was Die Hard 1 it wouldn't have the legs to spawn 2 sequels.

It cant beat the first one, no film can. But it was a good continuation to the series. The PG-13 didn't bother me as much as I thought it would, which means I will enjoy the R/Unrated even more.

Wow and I thought it was the weakest of the four films with the worst villain. I dunno, cyber terrorists aren't really that menacing on screen and the clickity clack of a keyboard doesn't really turn up the tension for me. Some great action sequences, granted but this one just doesn't hold up to the first three.

I think the people who feel this isn't as good as the other sequels need to rewatch those ... I love all these movies, but the sequels don't hold up that well over time, especially DH2. I watched all 4 this week and without a doubt in my mind I'd rank them:
Die Hard
Live Free or Die Hard
Die Hard: With A Vengeance
Die Hard 2

I saw it Saturday. It was OK. But in retrospect, I should've seen the rat movie instead.
This just didn't grab me like the first one did. And if Willis really thinks this is as good as the first, he's deluding himself, or believing his own marketing hype.
The action was OK. Until the jet fighter came into play. That was just nonsense. And I don't find myself thinking that about most of what I see on the big screen. I can buy just about anything. But that was so far over the top.
And throughout the movie, it was hard to get one thought out of my head - "Hey, it's the Mac guy." I didn't know in advance he was in the movie.
And just a side note on the sequels... DH3 was an OK movie, with a good story, good villain, and was interesting for its "tie" to the first. But what kills that movie for me is all the racial stuff. Just not needed.

Just saw it. It was okay. It felt like it was just going through the motions. It's hard to make a good tech flick, since showing someone just typing in a keyboard isn't exactly riveting.

Die Hard 3 (10/10)
Die Hard (10/10)
Die Hard 2 (9/10)
Live Free or Die Hard (8/10)
Great movie. I'll need to see it another 30 times to see if it really holds up to the others.
The PG13 rating was ACCEPTABLE and SATISFACTORY. They managed to pull off the job. But I can simply say that it would have been better with the language and violence. 'Live Free' lacked the BITE of the other three. The only real notable 'fuck me moments' were when McClain does his laugh-thing, and when he refers to Maggie O as a 'dead Asian bitch'.
I also missed the 'dirty' camerawork that the other three had. Everything in 'Live Free' was very crisp and clean.

Movie sucked ass. Here's why.
1) We still hear about McClain's wife. Is she going to show up in a fucking film or what? Please. Either forget about her entirely, or give her a few bucks to say a few lines at the beginning of a movie. I'm getting sick and tired of their divorce always coming into the picture. It's stupid and lacks writing talent.
2) The Terrorist Threat was unrealistic and was a typical Hollywood "feel-good" response to real Islamic Terrorism in the world. The chances of a rogue DoD agent actually trying to cripple his own country? Much less than a group of radical Muslims flying planes into a few buildings, I'll say that much. Too politically correct, and completely stupid.
3) The scene where our hero, McClain, now in his 60's or 70's, is avoiding an F-35 fighter jet (which has been told to take out the vehicle) while driving a large semi on a large freeway overpass. Yeah, read that again. Then he somehow lands on the flying F-35? Oh boy, I don't wanna spoil this awesome scene, so I'll stop there. Completely retarded.
4) Maggie Q and Olyphant were great. Maggie Q didn't say much but her moves made up for it. Justin Long wasn't that bad either. In fact, the acting wasn't bad overall. The problems with the movie were the action sequences which were just unrealistic.
5) Oh and this REALLY was irritating. Whoever did the dubbed audio during the cursing and swearing to make it PG-13, was a complete dumbass. I felt like I was watching Live Free Or Die Hard In The House Of Flying Daggers. This just put the cherry on the top of a movie that is bound to be the worst installment of the Die Hard series.
I could tell I was in for a big disappointment only a few minutes into the movie when McClain was once again talking about his ex, and now he has a grown daughter...ugghhhh.
Somebody start writing something with talent. I guess I should have submitted my own Die Hard installment. In fact, I may do so. It'll be more realistic. Probably more action. More real dialogue. Hmmmm.

I saw the film tonight, and completely loved it.
BUT, I have one question...
Was it just my theater, or was the picture quality all washed out? I remember seeing the trailer in HD, and was blown away by the details, but during my screening, there was a sort of haze over the screen. It wasn't really out of focus, it just had a very saturated, washed-out look.
Maybe it was just my theater, but it kinda distracted me a lot.
If it was the theater I went to, then this is just another reason why I hate seeing movies during their theatrical exhibition... I can't seem to catch a break. Either it's out of focus, mis-framed, or audio is out of sync... I really should complain to the management when I go watch the movie again soon.
