It's when you need to change the dialogue after the scene is already filmed. What you hear and what you see doesn't match up right when the process is done badly, or when your dialogue change is WAY too different from what was actually said.
"Damn" --> "Darn" can look good.
"Yippee-ki-yay moth********" --> "Yippee-ki-yay mister falcon" looks bad.

I agree. That would be amusing. Perhaps once Anakin becomes Darth Vader, he can rattle off a bunch of expletives as well instead of simply yelling "Nooooo!" like a five year old after you take away his favorite toy. Melding both franchises together would also be funny: "Oh man, I can't f**kin' believe this. Another planet, another lightsaber battle. How can the same sh*t happen to the same guy twice?"Originally Posted by Star Wars Guy

P.S. Reporter: "Senator Palpatine, could we have a few words please?"
Palpatine: "You can have two: f**k and you."
Darth Vader: "No pictures you pinko b**ch."

Jesus MercurySolace calm down!
1. I wasn't complaining about the rating...I accepted it before the movie came out and figured that the movie could still rock...like the Bourne movies or any other big action movies. What I WAS complaining about was the fact that the editing and dubbing was soo poor that it did distract me from the movie. You shouldn't be noticing that in major motion pictures.
2.Willis did not act like the McClane we all know. If they maybe explained his sudden "I'm a clean sober guy" thing than maybe. Not to mention he just didn't seem to have the same energy that he did in the last three. In 1-3 he starts out normal but just builds and builds as the movies go on...this one he was pretty calm and cool the entire time. Maybe because he's too old? Maybe they should of just stuck with the three movies then.
3. I'm not even going to attempt to argue how bad Olyphant was as a villain becuase almost EVERY review says that he was probably the weakest part of the movie. Which is sad becuase I have always love Olyphant in all the different roles he can do!
4. As far as the action...the plot holes are much bigger than the previous three. If it were McClane flying that jet after the semi truck then I wouldn't mind it...because as we all know...McClane dose whatever it takes to get the job done ( Jump off a building with a firehose, fight on the wing of a plane, etc)...the U.S. government does NOT think that way and I don't understand how they came up with the idea to send a fighter jet after a semi truck. You'd think they would just send in like 5 SWAT teams after the truck...or if there going to send a fighter jet...why not send a whole fleet?
5. I understand that we have a new director and I agree they should add their own little flares to it. BUT they need to remember that this is a series of movies and they all have the little things that help people connect and differeniate them from other movies. If we would of at least gotten the "Die Hard" music back this wouldn't be as bad...but alas we didn't.
6. I am glad you enjoyed it...and who am I to tell you that you are wrong. All I can say is that with you stating that this is the best in the series...well sir...than you have COMPLETLY different tastes than I (and many others). All I know is that you don't need to "top" the action in the previous movies to make it a good movie. DHWaV has probably the least amount of action yet its my second favorite of the series.

Sadly, you are correct. You don't need to see the previous three Die Hard installments in order for this one to provide you with a richer viewing experience. However, the previous three Die Hard installments are vastly superior to this weak fourth installment that is Live Free or Die Hard. Still, this is only my opinion. If you wind up seeing Live Free or Die Hard, then I hope that you enjoy the film more than I did. Take care.Originally Posted by hardercore

I gotta say I was wrong when I bashed this movie because the terrorists were not going to be Muslium. This movie is "NON-STOP ACTION, VIOLENACE!!" the "F" words is the only thing to keep this movie from getting an R rating. This movie is worth the ticket price plus popcorn & soda! Worth buying the dvd too!!
The villin is better than DIE HARD 2 VILLINS, but of course not as good as 1 or 3.
I rate the movies:
DIE HARD ***1/2
DIE HARD 2 ***1/2
DIE HARD 3 ***
DIE HARD 4 ***1/2

Just got back. Felt like a Die Hard movie to me, just slightly watered down.
They could definitely do an R-rated DVD putting back in the obvious cuts they made.
I just wish they'd use the international title. They just can't seem to come up with good sequel titles. They should have just followed Lethal Weapon's path.

How does water gushing from a fire hydrant take down a helicopter?
Why would the US government send a jet fighter to stop a semi truck?
1. The copter was not taken down, the guy was knocked out ... that's probably easy to do when you're hovering low to the ground and with that much pressure coming out and with the guy standing right at the edgeOriginally Posted by Matto1020

2. Once again, something else that was missed due to possible griping during the movie .... the Government did not send the fighter jet to stop the semi, they sent it to fly over WoodLawn; Olyphant's character diverted it to the semi since McClane was driving it

Honestly, the bitching and moaning in this thread about silly fanboy shit in pathetic.
But since we're on a "Bitching about silly shit roll" I'll add mine:
They made "Tuvoc" look like a fuckup.

Has anyone here ever met someone who drank and smoked a lot in their youth and then cleaned up their act? Can these people not exist as our action heroes anymore?
I thought the movie was good. I read an interview with Willis in Time and he mentioned that anyone who wants to go to a movie to hear profanity needs some counseling.
Suckers.

Saw it last night...and LOVED it.
My first reaction was "THIS is how you make an action movie!" Anyone (IMHO) who doesn't think this looks and feels like "a DIE HARD movie" is just bitching for bitching's sake. I think this was the best film since the original.
Yes, there were about a half dozen ADR problems - but honestly, you can notice those in ANY movie if you're looking for them. If I hadn't had previous knowledge, I probably wouldn't have noticed them at all during this first viewing. It's not like you see McClane's mouth moving and other words coming out...they're not THAT obvious.
Tim Olyphant was a GREAT villian, and I thought he wouldn't be going in. Most movie villians seem to "go psycho" in their final scenes (after spending the whole movie calm and collective), but Olyphant maintains his cool throughout...much in the same way Alan Rickman did in the original.
Are there problems? Sure. Some of the things McClane does here would kill a normal man (moreso than the other Die Hards, this one lives and breaths on crazy death-defying stunts), and Olyphant's has what Roger Ebert calls the "Talking Villian Syndrome" on a few occasions, where he should just put a bullet in someone, but insists on talking (until the hero(es) have enough time to figure out what to do).
Still, the action is fantastic (the tunnel scene alone is one of the scariest action sequences I've seen in many a year), the CGI used isn't transperant, and the threat here is GLOBAL, which alone makes the stakes higher than any DIE HARD we've seen before.
It's also the only movie I've seen this year where the audience pretty much universally loved it (loud applause at the end and a few cheers...not the smattering of claps you usually get in a really "good" movie).
Those who wait for DVD are going to miss out on a fun time at the movies...nothing deep, nothing mind-bending, just good ol' fashioned FUN. The kind you want to get in the theater at this time of the year.

Got back from a matinee a little while ago. It's...all right. It's an above average action movie, definitely better than Part 3, nowhere near as good as Part 1. Some of the stunts are amazing, and the bigger set pieces are somewhat innovative.
The Mac Guy is kind of annoying at first. The whole "The media is designed to make you afraid" schtick...that's so old. I'm so sick of hearing that. For the first half hour or so, I kept wanting to punch him in the neck. But as the movie went on, I warmed up to him. He's OK.
The villain, unfortunately, is a big weenie. Total metrosexual girly man. At no point during the film did I find him threatening. He's got this blank stare that I guess is supposed to be intimidating, but...no. Sorry. We're a long way from Hans Gruber.
Overall, the movie follows the trend of making things bigger and more elaborate in scope than each of the previous installments. Sadly, I think that is the film's downfall. What makes the first Die Hard so compelling is that it manages to find the humanity of Johm McClane amidst all of the violence and explosions. I was watching the DVD a few weeks ago and it's...the little things, you know? The fact that he's barefoot throughout the entire movie, and the terrorists shoot the glass, and he gets the glass in his foot....You just feel for the guy. In Live Free,
He's become too much of an indestructible superman, and that makes it hard to root for him.
But yeah, I dunno. It's worth seeing once. And it's the kind of thing that works on a big screen. It's got some fun moments, but I won't be buying it on DVD.

"The Mac Guy"
I still think of Justin Long as the kid from Galaxy Quest.
I think Timothy Olyphant could have been much more menacing, but wasn't. Its not as if he can't act (see Deadwood).
