Blade Runner: The Final Cut

I just saw the trailer for this new cut of Blade Runner and that it'll be released to theaters this Fall. That's great news!

He's probably saying that he saw it on TV. It was on CBS tonight.

Is this to be a wide or limited release? I would love to see Blade Runner (any cut at all) on the big screen.

I was wondering the same thing. I've never had an opportunity to see this in a theater and would love to get a chance.

I saw the Director's Cut when it was released theatrically a dozen years ago or so. We sat in the front row of the balcony of the Fine Arts theater in Chicago. When they did the flyovers of the city, it was like really being in a hovercar. Awesome.

I was more interested with the DVD logo in the commercial, as there was also the HD-DVD logo as well.

There's another cut? What can they do differently other than making it even more clear that Deckard is a replicant?

Do they add new special effects or have Jabba the Hutt in a bar scene or something?

Yep, that's where I saw it. (Hopefully, the trailer will be online soon.)

I'm in the minority that likes the theater cut. But shit, I'll watch it in any way I can.

I'm with ya, Jack. I love the voiceover and hate the idea that Deckard is a Replicant. I've still got my Criterion laserdisc for the European cut, and I just turn it skip to the end credits after they get in the elevator.

Did they actually state in the commercial that aired during AFI's Top 100 that Blade Runner: The Final Cut would be coming to theaters Fall 2007? All I saw at the end of the commercial was "Coming Fall 2007", no mention of an actual theatrical release.

So what happens after they get in the elevator on that version?

It's on youtube:

No mention at all of a theatrical release, but it has the Blu-ray Disc, HD DVD, and DVD logos.

I was lucky enough to see the workprint of Blade Runner at the Nuart theater in west LA about 10-15 years ago, and there was one line change that I've always loved. I've never heard it since. Instead of "I want more life...fucker!" Roy Batty says, "I want more life...father." Damn, what a great change. I hope this edition finally restores that for good.

When it's not a theatrical release, they'll usually say something like "Coming to DVD Fall 2007."

Spoiler:
The infamous tacked on ending, which has Deckard and Rachel driving a hovercar through verdant green fields, and Deckard explains via voiceover that Rachel, unlike every other replicant in the universe, does not have an expiration date and will live like a normal human.
