The remake may be my favorite of all of them. It’s a franchise that as a whole I’ve just never really gotten that into.

After hearing so much about TCM 2 I watched it the other night and holy shit is it bad. I’m not sure why people like this one. It starts off decent but within the first 15 minutes or so it revolves into pure crap. And as soon as that DJ chick left the radio station to chase the chainsaw wielding family, she deserved any death coming her way.
The only other TCM movie worth a damn is the Jessica Biel version.

I like Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) quite a bit. I really enjoy both of them. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is decent. I like it. Texas Chainsaw and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning aren't very good, but are watchable. Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Next Generation and Leatherface (2017) are boiling hot cat piss. Just awful. (That said I own every film in the franchise.
)
I'd rate the series as follows
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 5/5
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 3/5
Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III 3.5/5
Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation 1/5
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) 3.75/5
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning 2.5/5
Texas Chainsaw 2.5/5
Leatherface 1.5/5

I don't Ike any of the sequels but I will say this, the beginning of the one sequel where it picks up right at the end if the original was awesome (again, just the beginning) - they recreated it perfectly. Very well done

I also enjoy 2003 film. Also to be fair, almost all of the sequels (outside Part 2), tried to replicate the tone & look of the first film or the 2003 film and only succeeded in creating some of the worst films in the franchise.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, is the only film I've enjoyed released after the 2003 film.

I personally liked the 2003 movie with Jessica Biel. I thought it was entertaining and violent. I have the prequel that came after it with Jordana Brewster on DVD, but I don't recall much about it.
The original I haven't seen in many years and from what I recall it's very low budget and almost looks like a snuff film and I know it's part of it's appeal.
Texas Chainsaw 3D and Leatherface are freaking horrible

I enjoy the humor in 2 and it's also very quotable. I saw this one before the original, so it may have warped my perception of the series. 2 is actually my favorite. (Kind of similar to Evil Dead 2 being the first one I saw in that series, and that one has remained my favorite as well.)

TCM is a classic, no doubt about it.
TCM2 and L:TCM3 are both strong sequels that kind of do their own thing instead of just rehashing the original.
TCM:TNG is fucking garbage. God, not even the nascent star power of Renée Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey can save this mess.
The remake stuff (TCM2003, The Beginning, Texas Chainsaw, Leatherface) all sort of blends together in my memory, though I think they're all decent enough 21st century remakes that fared better than similar attempts to reboot F13th and NOES.
