I’m going with the latter.

Re: Toy Story 3

Just saw this trailer last night before the 3D double feature.

It looked pretty good, but the whole Spanish Buzz really turned me off. His delusions of grandeur were perfect in the first one and it was great to have the real Buzz get a look in the mirror with the other Buzz in TS2, but now it feels like they just need Buzz to be wacky in this latest installment. Hopefully him spazzing out is only for one scene.

I'm also curious to see how they transition the whole bunch of toys to this daycare. I know the toys were pretty comfortable with their ultimate fate at the end of TS2, but it seems sort of drastic for Andy to let all of his toys go in one go.

I haven't seen the trailer yet, but if the day care plot is true (as rumored for a decade) then it would have been a great way to write out Slinky Dog between movies.

He wasn't written out.

I'm aware. I was saying given the plot, it would make sense that Andy give away some toys over the years. It would have been a good way to write out Slinky in between films, after Varney's death.

It would also make sense to not give up some of his toys. I mean, I never gave up the core group of toys I had.

Gonna see it because I loved the first one growing up and hopefully it's going to be pretty good but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

Re: Toy Story 3

Aside from Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and Finding Nemo, I haven't liked anything else that Pixar's put out. (Haven't seen Up yet, but the premise looks stupid.) So I'm really looking forward to Toy Story 3. The trailer looks fun.

Up is fantastic. Wall-E is near perfection. Ratatoullie is one of the most beautifully animated films ever.

Re: Toy Story 3

I hope Michael Keaton's Ken doll has a tape recorder to document his ideas about feeding mayonnaise to tuna fish to make canned tuna taste better, and to just spew crazy inane crap about other things.

(Yeah, I know, my ideas of a Night Shift/Pixar crossover are far fetched.)

I agree Wall-E and Ratatoullie both look great visually. I just didn't enjoy them as films.

The Toy Story 3 will be out in theaters in mid of July 2010. All the voices will be the same except for Slinky dog.
Great info! However, you neglected to mention that the movie will be made using computer-generated images ("CG") and will take advantage of 3D technology which will require audience members to don "glasses". In addition, it will feature accompanying music ("soundtrack") and contain millions of colors. I expect that theaters will use projected light to expand the image onto a large screen, and moviegoers will sit in seats and view the moving picture.

What's not clear is whether they were donated on purpose or as an accident. I've heard it both ways.

Otherwise, looks fun.

Re: Toy Story 3

I could have sworn the focus in another trailer was Buzz talking Spanish? I really like the newest trailer so far, looks like a great story.

This may even top Toy Story 2 in greatness.

Re: Toy Story 3

I'm fairly sure this won't be as good as Toy Story 2. Usually, when a sequel equals or surpasses the original, the 3rd installment turns out to be the weakest.

That said, this new trailer looks great! I was gonna skip it after finding about the details on who was directing it, etc but I'm looking forward to it now.
