Great movie, the funniest one I've seen in years. Only in movies could three geeks like that score on those hot chicks. Biggest laugh for me is when the cops are doing McLovin a favor and dragging him away in handcuffs to impress the girls, and he's shouting at the one girl, "Wait for me on the outside!" Years from now, this will be considered a classic. Please don't ruin it with a lot of crappy sequels like American Pie.

Fogell is another case entirely. But his whole angle was overtop, so it fit.

I loved this movie. I felt like I missed so much because of how quick everything came at you but I truly enjoyed it. It brought back some memories of using fake IDs and the High School scene, but sorry for those of you who related to those characters....I always have a problem with these movies where guys who are fat and not really good looking end up with girls WAY out of their league. It bothers me only to a certain extent, but I can guarantee any of you here who are like the two main characters sure as hell didn't score girls like that. But college is a whole other story...
Too many good lines to put here...look forward to IMDB updating the page of quotes.
"I'm sorry I blocked your cock."
"We need to be guiding his cock"
Oh and those drawings in the Ghostbusters lunch box had be dying....that whole story he went on when chatting in the cafeteria, holy shit.

I watched it last night and really did enjoy it. I didn't see Knocked Up so I can''t compare it. But to compare it to 40 Year Old Virgin, this was 1000% times better. I laughed more and was never really bored. The last 30 minutes, as with most comedies, the laughter dies off for the most part but on a scale of 4 stars, 3 stars from me!

I thought the movie was really funny, but for some reason I left a little disappointed. Not sure why. Maybe I had my expectations too high for the film after seeing it so hyped up after Knocked Up (my favorite film so far this year).

I saw it this weekend and it is easily the funniest comedy I've seen in years. Although my girlfriend came out of the movie saying that Fogell/McLovin reminded her of me from the start and that she lost it at the end when he said "BREAK YOSELF!" (something I apparently say a lot). Not that I mind, he was the best part of the movie and I think they could have made an entire movie about him and the cops.
On a side note, the trailer for American Gangster had me very excited!

I'm on the same level as slop's opinion of liked it, didn't love it. Knocked Up was a good deal funnier then this to me. Some really funny jokes for sure, but the characters felt a little too forced compared to Knocked Up's leads which were more likeable, especially since it felt to me like they pushed their best friend relationship a bit too much towards the awkwardly gay side.
My biggest laughs were definitely from the randomness of some of the jokes, like the penis drawings and the small comments by Michael Cera's character.

I never felt it to be laugh-out-loud hilarious. There were some funny parts mostly from Cera but it just felt too passe for me. Maybe I'm too old but I felt like the movie was listening to a high school student tell me about his whole day and how it was so awesome for 2 HOURS. Saying cock and tits doesn't make me laugh. Like I said, the only bright spots for me were Cera's awkwardness. The McLovin stuff was terribly overkilled by the end of the movie. It really wasn't that funny to begin with but thankfully the character playing him was able to give it more life than it deserved.

The film really wasn't that crude, and, when it was, it was still quite clever . Yes, those two could and did work together in this film.
It was very true to life as far as I can tell. That is how High Schoolers speak. Their friendship never seemed to get unrealistically awkwardly gay, either. Seemed just about right.
The McLovin angle was there for pure fun, and wish fulfillment, but as crazy as it got, it never felt out of place.

Finally saw it yesterday w/ the wife. Great film. Other than being a little long-winded towards the end, it was just about perfect. ****1/2 out of five.

I saw it last night. Really enjoyed it but the cops brought it down a level. I think Roeper said something to the same effect. If they weren't in it, it would have been a much better film.
Laugh out loud funny through out and was quite surprised at homo erotic it was. Guys drawing dicks, saying I love you, dressing one another in Home Economics class, etc.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Suspended; also need updated email
finally watched this
was pretty cool, for a teen sex comedy it relied on the dialogue and chemistry between the leads much more than nudity and cheap knob gags.
still would have liked to have see more nudity

But yes, I did enjoy it, and the chemistry between the leads was good.

Finally watched Superbad last night. It was decent. Definitely not the end-all be-all comedy of 2007 that it grew to be. When it was funny it was hilarious(McLovin, tampon-pants, Seth Rogen, division sign), but the movie dragged on for about 30 minutes too long.
The major thing that hampered my enjoyment is the lack of acting skills Jonah Hill possesses. Michael Cera was great as always but next to Hill he looks like an Oscar contender. Every line was nearly cringe-worthy and not because of the dialog, but because of his utter lack of effective delivery. He just sounded like a moronic douchebag who happened to be on set to fill in at the last minute because the real actor backed out of the role.
Another thing that pulled me out of the film were these 2007 year high school students making pop culture references that were obviously written by someone older. I'm, of course, drawing a blank now, but there were 3-4 that were out of place. I did really enjoyed the two female characters more than anyone else though.
If I were ranking things, Apatow-wise this would be at the bottom. This was definitely not as good as American Pie which seems to be a common comparison. Nowhere near as good as Knocked Up, a movie whose characters you actually care about.

But I dunno, I never had friends I could make obscure references to back then

.That's very sad for you. My buddies and I (who were geeks in the sense of our tastes, but not nerds, in the sense that were moderately popular and not mocked like the two in Superbad were) were always throwing out references that were over the heads of or too old to understand by many of our classmates, but not all. That's why it bothers me so much when I see teenagers in movies depicted as clones of the young celebutards in the media today... they're not as moronic or as sheepishly manipulated as everyone seems to think... at least not all of them.

Maybe not, but they are the exception not the rule, that's why it stands out and seems awkward. Orson Welles was the big one, McLovin wearing a ...and Justice for All shirt at one point seemed out of place as well. A Lara Croft poster was another. Her heyday was 10 years ago when these kids would have been about 6 years old. There were a couple others, but
.
They are all references that someone, oh, say Seth Rogen's age or a little older would pull out when writing a script.
That's why it's brilliant. You've never known a shy awkward kid like the ones he portrays? I've known several and he nails it.

Personally, I just chalk it up to the Arrested Development fans that love every person in the show
