McLovin was great and the movie has so many good lines, I'll easily have to see it a few more times just to commit them to memory. Lived up to my expectations for sure. I'll be going back tonight to see it with a packed house hopefully, because the matinee audience kind of blew. So awesome.

I went to see this at a late evening showing to guarantee a packed house. It just makes comedies that much better, in my opinion.
This is definitely the second funniest movie I've seen this summer. As someone else mentioned, it's heart with raunch and it delivers. The whole ridiculous wm lopez comments have no bearing on the movie since:
And the funk music just makes it more timeless I think. Hell, even Bootsy Collins sings the credits song.
As much as the movie caries very positive messages (the meaning of friendship, respect for girls, drinking not being necessary), it's a bit American Pie-y in the sense that it relies on a lot of physical humor and the sexual awkwardness of being in high school. This is not a knock against it, but this is going to limit its audience. About 90% of people at my showing were college aged. When I saw Knocked Up, maybe 40% were. I can see grandparents seeing Knocked Up (I did, actually). This movie, not so much.
It is consistently funny, and there's parts (like the back-scratch
line) that drowned out a good 45-60 seconds of dialogue. But I thought Knocked Up was ultimately more clever and had more heart. Knocked Up, to be fair, was a comedy for adults. This is a comedy for teens, but if you're like comedies you'll really like it.
Recommended.

I saw it tonight, simply awesome. We missed the previews, though. No we didn't show up late, the theater was having problems and they skipped them. Then the film died twice during the movie and froze for 6 minutes. So we all got free passes to any movie any time in the future.

There was some weird dude sitting in front of me who had to of been about 35 and every time they would show a girl hed be like "Oh Yeahh" out loud. He would make these weird noises throughout the whole movie and he just creeped me out.
Good movie though.

Loved it... Just because the comparisons will be made, I preferred Knocked Up a tad more, just because I thought Superbad lagged in the comedy in the middle a bit, and its more "about me". That being said, the first 30 mins was some of the funniest stuff on film in a loooong time. Michael Cera and Jonah Hill were just great and really took me back to my days in HS.
From someone who graduated high school in 2004, this film hit nearly too close to home for my friends and I when we saw the film the other night. We were all laughing our asses off as we've all been in experiences and situations like the ones in the movie (well, with the exception of McLovin's). My friends all believed the film should've been called "Matthew Chmiel: The Teenage Years" as the characters of Evan and Seth are based directly off me (with the mumbling near girls characteristic of Evan and the inappropriate comments of Seth).
Hell I graduated in 1992 and I could say the same exact thing...

If there must be a comparison, I give the edge to Knocked Up, if only becuase I cared about those characters.
Superbad is wonderful, but I never gave a darn about the guys and found it hilarious when the film asked me to.

I thought this movie was hi-lariously funny in more spots than not. I was slapping my knee at times (hey wait, is that a euphemism?) from laughing. Michael Cera (Evan) is a really good, young, comedic straight man, while Jonah Hill (Seth) is "out there" with manic-ness. Christopher Mintz-Plasse as McLovin was spot-on for most of the film. I enjoyed the film for what it was, a foul-mouth teen romp with heart. Seth Rogen and Bill Hader also provide was good laughs as the cops that find their way into McLovin's night with his homey's (Evan and Seth).
I give it 3.75 stars, or a grade of A-.

I loved this movie. One thing I thought was great... even the girls they liked felt like real people, and the film didn't just treat them as unattainable objects of beauty like most similar stories do (American Pie's Nadia, Jennifer Love Hewitt in Can't Hardly Wait, etc.)

Funniest move Ive seen this year. Everything felt real and very familiar from high school.

Also, Clark Duke gets a lot of screentime although I don't think he has more than a line.

I liked it, didn't love it. Best thing about it, by far, was Cera's performance. The movie itself was very funny throughout, just not hysterical, catch-my-breath funny. I laughed a lot more through Knocked Up. I think early review hyperbole raised my expectations too high. Oh, and the theater I saw it in was practically deserted, which may have had something to do with it too.
Also, high school was more than 15 years ago for me, so maybe I just don't relate? Actually, I relate pretty well to the guys' friendship, but I was kinda popular in high school, and getting girls was never an issue, so when that's one of the major conflicts of a movie, I sorta tune out. Drugs and hazing aside, I related a lot more to Dazed & Confused, for instance - though Superbad was way more funny than D&C.

I just watched this movie. Had to leave as soon as the credits came out. But then just as I was almost out, heard some laughter in the theater. So there must be some extra clips right after the credits. Can anyone share what the clip is about? Thanks!

From: "Are any of us really anywhere?"
very well done movie overall. a lot of very funny moments. i just wished they stuck more to an all-high school feel. the semi-adults (cops) and others took the movie to a different place after the initial high school opening. the place was cracking up the whole beginning. i just thought it took a different tone when McLovin went around with the cops and Seth and Evan went to the other party. would have liked all in one world if you know what i mean.
but, very funny and so many laugh out loud moments that i can't even count. the best moment however:
that was so awkward and so funny. the linger look back by Seth was a little too much though.
Michael Cera was so on point that i just want to pop in my "Arrested Development" sets again.
