And even if they knew that someone from the "present" was going to be his father it wouldn't exactly change their actions...the machines are still trying to kill off everyone anyway.

The inevitable happens anyway (Skynet becoming self aware), so enough trips into the past, the Terminators should learn something. Of course, had they taken care of matters and killed Kyle before he was able to go in the first place, would have stopped this whole time travel nonsense.

I've never understood why they programmed the cyborg with an austrian accent. I would imagine the cyborg would sound like Stephen Hawking or an American!

"I'll be back" doesn't have quite the same impact when you look like Ah-nuld and sound like a Speak and Spell.

In Terminator 2, the second Arnold T-100 arrives and helps the Conners stop judgement day. The only problem is the T-100 only knows of a history in which Cyberdyne helps the military complete skynet. By blowing up the cyberdyne building they postpone judgement day the extra number of years it takes the Military to finish skynet by themselves, as they would have in the history before the frist Terminator ever arrived.
Very nice. I'm bashfully ashamed that I never thought about it enough to realize this.
