Want to complain? Complain about the mis-matched script. Complain about Rami made bastards out of characters (Spidey would of never kissed Gwen infront of everyone like that, espically if he loved MJ). Bitch about a lot more stuff than Dunst.

I have complained about the mismatched script. Raimi making "bastards" out of the characters is a bit much. There are problems in the film, but the biggest one is that we're meant to care about MJ and Peter's relationship, but how can we do that if we don't care about MJ? Dunst has gone from bearable in the role to flat out awful.

Ah, so now it's Tobey who can't act. Right. Why are you so keen on defending Dunst, anyway? She's never been much of a Mary Jane, and in this one she's downright annoying.
As for Spider-Man kissing Gwen, it seemed pretty clear to me that he was caught up in the moment. Here's a guy who's used to having people slam on him all day, both literally and figuratively. It's clear from the dinner scene that he couldn't believe how popular he had become, and he was overwhelmed. It wasn't done to intentionally hurt MJ and it didn't make me think Raimi was suddenly raping the characters.
Edit: Nevermind, I see your problem is that you feel Raimi has somehow done a terrible injustice to all the Spider-Man fans around the world and must be revealed for the psychotic murderer he is. I'm done conversing with you on this subject, since we're clearly not going to reach a consensus on this issue.

Tobey can't act , not as Peter Parker. His Parker has been nothing but a whiney-boy since day one. Not a dork. Just a big cry-baby and that hasn't changed. I am not defending Dunst, per say. I just don't understand how you can put all the blame on Dunst, when cleary the problem with the characters is Sam Rami's fault. He has done an injustice to the series. There is so many things wrong with Spider-Man 3, that the best thing would be a friggin' reboot of the franchise, because there is no turning back all the stuff Rami fucked up.

What a disappointing film. Underused (almost a non-use) Venom. Sandman plot really went nowhere. Plot contrivances all over the place. Some were just horrendous, like the butler scene. What were they thinking??

Im going to have to agree with Livinginclip as I thought it was Tobey as the weak link in all these films... Sure Dunst wasnt great and I dont get why she was so bitchy in this movie, but he was the reason I didnt like part 2. I actually liked Maguire more in this one (even as scene boy), but the movie was just all over the place. Last 30 or so mins were pretty good, and Franco was by far the best part of the movie as Harry, but its almost like Raimi just decided to go so over the top crazy so as he would defintely not have to do another one.

All of the characters were very annoying in this, but MJ was the worst. When Peter accidentally cracked her in the mouth in the jazz club, I said, "About time", which I said louder than I should've because everyone around me laughed and agreed.

I think someone else said something similar when Peter smacked her. My favorite, though, was when she kissed Harry, someone screamed "WHORE!" at the top of his lungs.

overall, i enjoyed the movie. sure it was a little slow and off at some points, but overall, it was an enjoyable action flick.
i guess i am not a big spiderman follower as others so i am not really sure what venom was supposed to be like other than the alter ego, so he was everything that i expected.

This was incredibly painful to sit through. Every time there was supposed to be an emotional moment, the entire audience started laughing.
Also one of the most bizzare moments of the night goes to 1/2 the audience getting up and leaving at the end of the funeral scene (and missing the whole Peter/MJ ending).

Cause it was pushed upon him

The attacks against this film are hilarious. This installment wasn't much worse than the first two. Unrealistic expectations and nitpicking. Sure this one had some extra cheese, but c'mon. The gripes I'm reading are as if some Best Picture contender was expected. My "spider senses" detect a lot of reinforcement among critics, fanboys and posts. Its a popcorn flick. Its a popcorn franchise.
A load of riper crap has received a lot more forgiveness lately.

nah, I don't think only the fans are disliking it. But even then, it's pretty split. I would consider myself a fan of the comics and I know devil is and we both enjoyed it.

I should reiterate that for all of my criticisms, I still had a blast with the movie. A good portion of the stuff people are complaining about, I have no problem with. I just feel they had the elements for a movie that could have made the other two look like amateur outings, but due to internal politics and who knows what other forces, we ended up with a movie that's fun as hell but where the whole is not as good as the sum of its parts.

One of the main things that drives me crazy about this movie is it already has most of the pieces in place to be a much better movie.
Why waste screen time with Mary Jane having trouble getting work and being petty with the Spider-Man jealousy? What did that accomplish, besides making MJ unlikable? If they wanted a rift in the Peter/MJ relationship then just use the already available Gwen Stacy and Black Suit.
Take out the Sandman/Ben Parker connection. It was a waste of time and only led to a really weak conclusion to the Sandman arc. Spider-Man's supposedly brutal revenge on Sandman by dousing him with water didn't come off as evil or brutal at all. Peter throwing the pumpkin bomb at Harry accomplished what that scene tried to do much much better.
Harry's stuff was alright for the most part. The amnesia could have been taken out but it wasn't too bad. Definitely get rid of the butler scene, there were much better ways to acomplish the same thing. Have Peter tell Harry to look at the blades on the Goblin glider compared to the wounds of his father and then have Harry looking at the glider in a later scene. Or just have Harry sitting by himself contemplating after his and Peter's last conversation about saving MJ, followed by him coming to save the day.
Tone down the campy dark suit Peter stuff. The cookies and milk scene was funny without the crossing the line into the stupidity that the later dancing scenes crossed into. Add more of the evil/brutal type stuff like disfiguring Harry's face and hitting MJ. It would have been nice to see some of the stuff they showed in Eddie's pictures, such as Spider-Man picking up the two motorcycles with the black suit on.
Venom was pretty good, they just needed to flesh him out a bit more. Git rid of Eddie asking Jesus to kill Parker and just have Eddie trailing Spider-Man to the belltower for pictures instead.

Spidey defeats the Green Goblin. He saves MJ's ass from Doc Ock. Who knows all the other crooks & baddies he's beat the shit out of over the years and she immediately folds and gives in to Harry??? Over a quick threat? Please.
On the bridge scene, I kept expecting her to talk to Peter and whisper/give him a sign/something that Harry was setting him up and for her to at least so some faith in Spider-man/Peter Parker who she supposedly loves. Or even tell Harry to go fuck himself and take it up with her boyfriend, Spider-man.
The whole thing was just so soap opera. I just expected better. I guess many others didn't.

Misogyny and violence against women is only funny if they deserve it
