Spoiler:
I haven't seen the movie... but I vaguely remember in comic book that Spider-Man's spider-sense doesn't work on Venom. They were together before Peter took apart from Venom and maybe that's explain why spider-sense didn't alert Peter.

I don't know why it didn't work on Harry.

DarkHorizons asked director Sam Raimi about the Spider sense in a recent interview.

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news07/spider31.php

Question: I was just saying there's a lot of powers associated with Spiderman, but you didn't touch on his spider sense in this movie. He gets beat a whole lot. Was that in discussion at all?

Sam Raimi: Well the truth is, in the previous pictures, he's always had spider sense and still we take him by surprise often. And I started to realize, you know it's really turning out to be a device that I use when I want and I pretend that it doesn't exist when I don't want it, not to, and I felt that there was so much in the picture already. And in addition, in the comics he is immune to Venom, as far as his spider sense, does not work with Venom. So I thought I'll have to also show, I'll have to not only cheat at times and show it, but I'll have to say that it doesn't work with Venom and I thought where is this all leading. There's too many elements in the picture already. We know he's got spider sense. I think I may not focus on that in this particular story.

Kind of like when Sylar uses the voice.

Holy crap! Howard Stern saw a screening of it yesterday and was raving about it for about half an hour today. Says everything about it was perfect and he can't wait to see it again. He gave it 7 stars out of 4. Said it was one of the best movies he's ever seen.

Well, Roeper didn't like it. And he liked the first one and thought the sequel was probably the best comic book turned film of all time.

'Spider-Man 3' sets records
Film debuts overseas, rakes in dough
By IAN MOHR

"Spider-Man 3" set records Tuesday in every one of the eight Asian territories in which it bowed.

Sony estimated that the pic hit ¥415 million ($3.47 million) in Japan in one day, beating "Spider-Man 2's" $3.43 million. The first "Spider" took in $2.9 million in its first day in Japan in 2004.

In Korea, latest pic also beat out one-day marks for its predecessors, taking in 3.2 billion won ($3.46 million), Sony honcho Jeff Blake said.

In Hong Kong, "Spidey 3" was the biggest opening day of all time, with $HK7.5 million ($958,984), besting previous record holder "Kung Fu Hustle."

Pic was also the biggest ever opening day of any film in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. In Taiwan, it marked the biggest weekday opening ever.

Euro markets should report their tallies by tomorrow.

Blake said the pic is exceeding expectations in all its Asian action by beating the first two in the series.

Wow, it's currently at 71% on RT. I know they have about 150 more reviews to go. But as of now, 32 Fresh, 13 Rotten. Won't stop me from seeing it. I'm just surprised. Could be the one (so far) with the largest number of bad reviews.

Means little to none. It's like saying Episode I was going to be great because Harry Knowles liked it and you know, he's a huge nerd so he should know.

I enjoyed Spider-man 3, but just saying, decide for yourself and not because some other nerd may have liked it.

Loved it. Definitely my favorite of the 3 (C- for 1, B+ for 2, and A- for 3). The action is fantastic, for the first time I truly felt the Peter Parker story line worked well and integrated into the movie as a whole, acting all around was great (loved seeing so many characters return). As mentioned, the action is much more in your face this time around, which works very well with the darker storyline. Gwen wasn't as tacked on as I thought she would be, Venom delivers (Topher works well as Brock), and Church is fantastic.

To me it was by far the most satisfying film both emotionally and viscerally. It also had the best humor.

Some minor complaints
Spoiler:

Harry's arc worked perfectly for me. I just wish they wouldn't have foreshadowed the ending so much by having him say "I'd die for them" so early in the film. Maybe I'm just an idiot, but I didn't see him working things out with Peter in this film until he made that statement. The final 2 on 2 fight still worked well, but that statement seemed unneeded.

Liked Peter acting cocky on the streets and in his apartment complex (the sense of inflated ego superpowers would likely give someone is an intriguing concept that was explored well in the film), but his dance sequence in the club was too much for my tastes. I think the scene would have worked better and had more emotional resonance if it was more subtle.

At least try and protect your identity. Spider-man seems to take off his mask in public every other minute. When he's not doing that he is loudy talking to Mary Jane in public (in restaurants, parades, etc.) about his experiences as Spider-man.

Look forward to seeing it again on Imax. Very entertaining film that doesn't feel overstuffed at all - quite the accomplishment considering how many characters are effectively integrated into the story.

Just a very satisfying movie and close to perfect summer blockbuster fare.

yeah i was surprised I thought for sure it would thumbs up

he quoted on rottentomatos.com
"
It’s as if director Sam Raimi felt he had to give us more of everything, and in the process lost sight of what made the first two films so enjoyable."

From what i seen in previews I think Venom looks disappointing.

I love how you have to argue with everything on an Internet forum.

I think Spider-Man 3 is going to be good, but I'm a little concerned about the whole 3 villians thing. I hope things don't get too cluttered.

When I watch the film, I hope it doesn't feel as though the Venom storyline was tacked on, even though that appears the way it went down in production. Personally, I would have been fine with the majority of the storyline to be Sandman and Harry, with maybe a mention of Lizard. I'm not a huge Venom fan, but the previews of him look good to me, so I'm still hopeful.

Spidey 3 will be setting the record for widest release, breaking Shrek 2's record. It'll be at 4,252 theaters. Jeff Wells of Hollywood Elsewhere is saying he's seeing predictions in the $125 - $130 million range for the 3-day weekend.

Spidey 3, Shrek 3, and Pirates 3 probably have the best chance of being the top grosser of the year. Out of those, only one film clocks in at 80+ minutes, which is of course Shrek 3. The other 2 films are around 150 minutes. So that probably boosts the ogre's chances of being king of the Summer, again.

The worst part is, Spidey 3 will set records and that won't speak for the quality of it. Now, I haven't seen it yet, but everything I have read, points towards the Sony choosing the direction of the film and Rami just goin' along with it.

While I am not a fan of the first two, I can at least respect that Rami did what he wanted with those two pictures. This one on the other hand, seems to be Sony's baby. Three villains, plot points changed around, Gwen Stacy thrown in and various other things.

I forgot all about Pirates 3 coming out this year. I didn't care for the second one, so here is hopin' that they improve on the previous. Same with Shrek 3, I loved the first but can't stand the second.

So am I.
The original Batman movie started going that way. Way too many villians and not enough time for the Protagonist.
I'm excited though.

From some reviews it doesn't seem that bad. Of course if you think about it, Batman Begins had 3 major antagonists. Falcone early on, Scarecrow, and Ra's.
