Wow. It's holding strong. Especially for a flick whose premise could be passed off as a chick flick amongst the fickle internet community.

Dang. Might have to actually see a comedy in theaters for once. Last one I think I saw was Talledega Nights. Then before that 40 Year Old Virgin. Anyone noticing a pattern?

Just saw it, I loved it. Probably on par with 40 year old virgin which I also loved. Theres some really funny moments. a little long, but when its good not much a of negative. Its not as wacky as 40 year old but its definitely worth seeing Seth Rogan is great in this, so is the supporting cast. 8.5/10

I meant Judd Apatow as being the only comedy maker that gets me to theaters anymore. Guess I was vague.
I wanted to see this with a buddy but reviews seem to indicate this is more of a date type movie. I spoke with him about it actually being more of a romance than comedy and that got him somewhat alarmed. Not that he is against seeing the movie, he just feels it would be weird for two guys to see it when we should be there with two girls.

Saw it and really liked it. I didn't like 40 Year Old Virgin as much as some but thought this was better. The 2nd act dragged a bit after a great start. Of course, Katherine is easy on the eyes. As was mentioned, the supporting cast is great. I'd give it a solid B+.

I thought it was great - very funny, touching and just a good time. The cast has a lot of fun, there is lots of great pop culture jokes and the characters are just very real. The second half is a lot more dramatic and the jokes don't fly as fast or furious, but that didn't hurt the movie IMO. I can't really imagine how anyone wouldn't like this movie, there is a lot of great stuff here.

My understanding from an EW interview with Ms. Heigl is that Rogan improvised a lot of his lines and it was her ability to improv back and go with his flow that got her the part.

Just saw it with the wife and we both loved it. While it was a bit too long, it still keeps you thoroughly interested. Its very funny (not balls out hilarious), touching and overall very pleasant. Seth Rogan was great, very comfortable in this leading role and Paul Rudd was fantastic, he needs a starring role for himself with Apatow taking care of things.

Agree with thegame and mdc. Just got back. Saw it with my wife. Very funny, touching, and fun movie. It fires on all cylinders. It's not balls out funny like 40YoV, but has a stronger plot and is a better film because of it. It's definitely going to have legs. The cast and crew baby photos during the credits was a nice touch.
I also have to agree about Paul Rudd. I don't know why he hasn't been tapped for a leading role. That guy is great in everything he is in. He even has leading man looks and actually stands out as a secondary character because of it.
This on the other hand I can't really agree with. Everything set up served its purpose by the end. Not sure what you felt was left hanging.

Contrary to the OP, I felt there were many side plots that were introduced and left with little resolution. It might provide a somewhat funny gag, but it'll add 5 minutes to the runtime.

Best movie of the year so far for me... I havent laughed like this in a while. I agree the 2nd act is more drama then comedy, but the scene in Vegas had me rolling, especially in the room and I couldnt breathe. Heigl and Rogan had great chemistry when together and Rudd just makes the perfect "every married man".

I was pretty disappointed with the movie. First of all, it was way too long. If it had been 85-90 minutes, it would have been a tight gem. As it is, it completely meanders and feels like a four hour movie instead of a two hour movie.
Secondly, I realized that either Seth Rogan was playing a far less interesting part than he did in 40 Year Old Virgin, or he's just not funny in more than small doses. His character really didn't do much for me.
Even worse was the Paul Rudd storyline. Rudd is one of my favorite comedic actors, but here he was so restrained (except for the amazing scene in the hotel room in Vegas). Also, I hate the actress who played his wife (who, I believe, is actually Apatow's wife which is how she gets into all of these movies despite not being the least bit funny or attractive), and their storyline just felt mean-spirited. In fact, a lot of the movie felt like people saying and doing hurtful things all the way until the baby is born. I didn't laugh much at all.
The funniest part, to me, was Ryan Seacrest's cameo. He gained some respect in my eyes for doing that bit.
But I still cannot wait for Superbad, which looks like it's far more up my alley.
