Saw it with my fiancee last night.

She's a huge Bean and Atkinson fan, and I like him too.

The movie was pretty good. VERY European - not "Americanized" at all as mentioned before. A few definite throwbacks to the original show.

I've never seen the last movie personally, but my fiancee (who hated that that one) said this one was way better.

If you're a Bean fan it's worth seeing. If you're not a Bean fan I can't say, but the younger kids in the theater seemed to enjoy it. It was rated G.

I hated Bean when he first got popular, not sure why, maybe because my mom wouldn't stop raving about him and I hate hype.

But I have to admit, the trailer looks pretty funny.

I'll probably end up seeing this one.

I thought the film was OK - 3/5. When I read the basic plot I thought of M. Hulot too. There are some familliar TV sketches throughout the film (like the cheating at a raffle at the start, and the securing of food money).

Mr. Bean's Holiday - 3/5

Thought this was OK, decent film, there were some familliar TV sketches, cheating at a raffle, bad osyters in restaurant - and Atkinson proves himself to be a fine physical comedian. Indeed, he is at his best when given free rein on his own, eg when trying to catch his stray coach ticket to Cannes which has become attatched to a chicken's foot, or wandering onto a film set.
In a plot thread seemingly stolen from one of the old TV episodes (Mind The Baby, Mr. Bean), a boy is seperated from his father, and tags along with the hapless Bean The segments with the boy are the weakest, though a sequence where our heroes secure food money by combining opera, mime and street theatre is inspired - and shows Rowan's skill at slapstick, physical comedy

even though the subtitled bits are kept to a minimum and the overall gist of the comedic scenes are understandable. I still thought the youngest might be a tad lost if they can't read 'subtitles'.

I agree that was hysterical, as was the whole Cannes ending and Bean's descent "down" to the beach.

A freind who is a big fan bought the HD DVD version even though he doesn't have a player. We just watched it the other night. I thought it was far superior to the first feature.

wait I'm confused, he doesn't have a HD-DVD player - but YOU do? How did the film look in HiDef?

Right. His disc, my HD DVD player.

The disc looked quite good. There are about 20 mins of deleted scenes and three behind the scenes featurettes on the disc as well.

I wasn't too impressed with how it looked in the theater but I have a feeling it's a used print. Since it showed so long ago in the UK, I wonder if they would repurpose the prints here.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing the HD DVD, as there were some truly nice shots of the French countryside.

This movie has made nearly $200 million worldwide and is the year's biggest international live-action comedy according to Entertainment Weekly. We (US) don't know funny.
