Weekend Box Office Thread March 16th - 18th, 2007

1. 300 WARNER BROS. 3,270 10,153,000 3,105 -64% 106,438,000
2. PREMONITION SONY 2,831 6,361,000 2,247 n/a 6,361,000
3. WILD HOGS BVI 3,360 5,511,000 1,640 -29% 90,693,000
4. DEAD SILENCE UNIVERSAL 1,803 2,899,000 1,608 n/a 2,899,000
5. I THINK I LOVE MY WIFE FOX SEARCHLIGHT 1,776 1,781,000 1,003 n/a 1,781,000
6. BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA BVI 3,091 1,500,000 485 -14% 71,324,000
7. GHOST RIDER SONY 2,824 1,258,000 445 -35% 107,466,000
8. ZODIAC PARAMOUNT 2,362 962,000 407 -52% 26,796,000
9. NORBIT PARAMOUNT 2,016 812,000 403 -30% 90,349,000
10. MUSIC AND LYRICS WARNER BROS. 2,280 689,000 302 -43% 45,884,000

300's Friday-to-Friday was down 64% which is about right for a heavily front loaded movie, it will be interesting to see how it does Saturday (st. pats) and Sunday, where normally the % would hold up well on Saturday to Saturday, it may be tough with so many of the college aged drinking.

I'm surprised Premonition started so strong and I Think I Love My Wife tanked.

Wow. Look at Wild Hogs go. The CinemaScore is a B+ so it must be getting decent word of mouth. There's no other movies like it in the theatre now.

Same thing with Bridge to Terabithia.

The Premonition numbers are insane. It looks it was definitely critic proof.

Nice job 300! I couldn't stand to see Wild Hogs at number one. I'm glad Premonition and Dead Silence didn't do that well, they both looked pretty bad.

Actually, $18m for Premonition is phenomenally good (Bullock must have taken a pay cut, the movie had a $20m budget). Dead Silence was a bit of a dud though.

300 was down a bit more than I would have liked to see, but that's expected with front loaded movies these days.

And it'll be Wild Hogs 2: The Rise of Kyle Gass with no other returning cast members.

I'm actually interested in final numbers, since estimates for Sunday may be off slightly due to an possibly uneven Saturday.

Considering Premonition's whopping 8% rating at rottentomatoes.com, I'd say $18 million is extremely impressive.

Honestly, though... Over $100 million? We are a strange land, these United States of America.
