SHAZAM on track for a 48 Million dollar weekend. That seems rather MEH! to me.

Fun 2nd trailer.
I like that Billy is going to be a fuck up as a Super hero and make mistakes.
and FYI, if you have DC Universe, the really old Shazam TV show from the 70's will be available tomorrow

Either way, the budget to this is something like $80-$100 million so it needs to hit about $270 million worldwide to break even. I think that's easily do-able.

IDK, Marvel, before Thanos, didn't have great villains IMO.

Yeah, right now it looks like ANOTHER movie villain with the exact same power set as the hero.
I honestly don't know that much about Captain Marvel villains, but thought Sivana was a genius supervillain, not a super-powered one.

Loki and frost giants were great in the first Thor film. But other than that, I agree, that Marvel doesn't have great villains.
Ultron was at least visually cool.
Man of Steel started the shared DCU, so yeah, there hasn't been a lot of great villains. The Phantom Zone criminals were easily the best.
I think it's kind of boring that the villain in the first Shazam! movie seems to have the same exact powers as the hero. I guess if it was Black Adam that would be different. But it just looks like some random bald guy. Or some off-brand Lex Luthor. I'm guessing that's Sivana.

See, I never was a big fan of Loki and kind of disappointed when I saw he was going to be the big bag in the first Avengers.
It is a shame we won't see more from the Phantom Zone criminals from MOS, especially Antje Traue as Faora-Ul.
Also, yes Sivana is the main villain but I had read that the Seven Deadly Sins are also involved.

Seriously? Again, you guys are never happy and always find bullshit to bitch about in DC films.
-Joker had the same powers as Batman
-Nolanverse R'as al Ghul had the same powers as Batman
-Catwoman had the same powers as Batman
-Zod had the same powers as Superman
Why so critical? /joker voice

If we got traditional Sivana we would've just heard a ton of complaining about how he's just a rip off of Lex Luthor anyway.

The abilities of the film R'as al Ghul and Catwoman are true to the comics are they not?
Same with Zod.
Notice, I said that if it were Black Adam he was fighting, it would be different.
But if that guy is supposed to be Dr. Sivana, and they just gave him Captain Marvel's powers, that appears lazy and boring to me.
I thought it was lazy writing in Wonder Woman when that one German general suddenly got superhuman strength in the most casual and offhand way. The German's are scrambling to get regain the formula for some special poison gas, but they apparently have the super soldier serum and it's not even used by the soldiers or treated like a big deal. Dr. Poison passes it to the general like she's giving him a Red Bull. It's just an excuse for WW to kill the general, since without it, he poses no threat to her. If she just walked up to him and just stabbed him, she'd look less heroic.
But then again have we seen Lex Luthor as a mad scientist in film?
In the Donner films he was like a master criminal obsessed with real estate.
Smallville, he was more inline with the the rich industrialist of the Bryne reboot.
Superman Returns he's the criminal real estate guy again.
In the new DCU Luthor is like an evil Mark Zuckerberg.
But you and I both know the character's name really starts with a "C," and it's Marvel's fault that DC has to call him Shazam!

I disagree. This looks a heck of a lot more fun than Captain Marvel and appears to have more kid appeal as well. Not saying it will do better at the B.O. than CM, but I do think Shazam will do better than expected while Captain Marvel will under-perform.

Sivana has powers in the Geoff Johns arc that this is clearly inspired by. He doesn't have these powers but he's definitely infused by magic, and seeing as how they had to excise Black Adam from the movie, I can understand why they went this direction.

I also get why they went that direction too.
I just wish they'd get a little more creative with these villains and the film climaxes.
It's funny how both Captain Marvel's are being released so close together.
