EXCLUSIVE: Following a breakout performance in New Line’s box office record-breaker It, Jack Dylan Grazer has been added to the cast of the studio’s DC Comic film, Shazam!. The young actor joins Zachary Levi, who was tapped for the title role, and Asher Angel, who will play Billy Batson, the teen who is able to transform into an adult superhero by uttering the phrase “Shazam.”

“I can't tell you much, as you can probably imagine, but what I can say is I am just out of my mind excited!” Levi expressed. “I get to do my version of Big, basically. It’s like Superman meets Big, and that’s just so fun.”

“I get to be a superhero that’s excited about being a superhero, and I think that’s refreshing,” he continued. “It’s not glum, and like, ‘Oh, I have to save the world again.' So I think it’s all really gravy.”

As for which DC hero he’d like to see make a cameo in his movie, that answer couldn’t have come easier: “Wonder Woman, because she's awesome.”

“I think getting a cameo from anybody would be super cool, but I just think Gal Gadot is so effervescent. She has such a charm. And she seems like a really cool broad. Like, she was in the Israeli army. She's a mom. And I'm like, 'You seem like you're grounded and cool, and you're Wonder Woman, and you rock,’” Levi exclaimed. “And I think it would be really funny to have the 14-year-old Billy Batson inside of Shazam that's really awkward around this beautiful Amazonian. I just think that would be really awesome.”

The film will open April 5, 2019, the studio announced Friday. (It had previously carved out that date for an untitled DC movie.) The month is currently pretty open at the box office, with Paramount's Pet Sematary opening a week after Shazam!.

On Sunday, Mark Strong confirmed TheWrap’s reporting the he is playing the villain in “Shazam,” telling Contactmusic that “I’m playing an evil bastard called Doctor Sivana, they are always the best characters to play, the most fun.”

Sivana will be Strong’s second time playing a DC Comics villain. The first was Sinestro in 2011’s “Green Lantern,” a film Strong told Contactmusic he thought was “rather good.” However, the film’s disappointing box office led to the cancelation of planned sequels which would have featured Sinestro in a much larger role, “so I feel like I’ve got unfinished business in the DC world.” Strong added.

Strong said “Shazam” will be “a funny film,” and noted that as it’s “about a young boy who can become a superhero but still remains a young boy,” the film will have thematic similarities to projects like Tom Hanks’ 1988 hit “Big” and from Netflix’s pop culture juggernaut “Stranger Things.”

“This is Us” actor and theater vet Ron Cephas Jones is in talks to play the Wizard in New Line’s DC superhero film “SHAZAM!” TheWrap has exclusively learned.

The Wizard bestows all the powers on a teenage Billy Batson (Asher Angel) so that he can magically transform into a fully adult-size superhero (Zachary Levi).
