Cap looks fine but what about Dr. Sivana?
In the comics and his animated appearances he was always short and process no powers except for machines he built.
Howard Morris played Sivana on the Legend of the Superheroes 70's specials.
Video of Mark Strong on set.

I'll beat him to the punch.
I think the pics look pretty much like an accurate Captain Marvel. I mean, Captain Marvel has a very distinct face (Fred MacMurrary with slicked back hair), unlike Superman, but yeah, casting seems good, colorful costume, I'm excited to see the trailer.
But I'm not crazy about the costume, or the New52 version it was based on. I didn't like it when comic artists back in the day streamlined the original costume to make it look more like typical superhero spandex, and less like a soldier-inspired uniform.
If you've seen Alex Ross's illustrations of Captain Marvel, I think that would be the look to go for, to differentiate between the scaled-spandex of all the other film superheroes. But I understand why, since they want some synergy between the current comics and the film.
And yeah, Captain Marvel is a copy of Superman, but the character turned out to be far more unique than Superman (at the time). Captain Marvel, I believe, was the first to have a female counterpart, and then a kid counterpart.
It was only after that, that Superman comics introduced a Supergirl and a Superboy.
I think the early Captain Marvel comics are WAY better than the early Superman ones from the golden age.

I said before when people were making fun of it that it looked like the comics and the new pictures further prove that. It looks fine but I’m still not overly interested in the character or film but I’ll likely see it as long as it looks decent. This on going joke that I’m such a hater for being critical of bad movies/decisions by WB that most people agree with is kinda old but I guess whatever.

@Hokeyboy
Fawcett's circulation director Roscoe Kent Fawcett recalled telling the staff, "Give me a Superman, only have his other identity be a 10- or 12-year-old boy rather than a man".

But yeah such a ripoff. I remember all those time in those classic Superman tales when he was spellcasting, consulting with Wizards in astral planes, and interacting with Gods...
As far as the quote: the owner of Marvel said the same thing about Justice League to Stan Lee, who then created the Fantastic Four. Inspired, sure. But not the same.
