Reign Over Me (Binder, 2007) — Sandler/Cheadle

QT Trailers : IMDB

Opens March 30 23, 2007

<hr>

I know Mr. Sandler isn't very popular around these parts but this hopefully looks to be more like a part in Punch-Drunk Love and less like in The Waterboy. The director, Mike Binder has done some awful stuff (Blankman?!?!?!) but was also involved as a writer with one of my favorite TV shows, HBO's Mind of the Married Man. I think the trailer sells the movie well and having Don Cheadle as the real lead can't be a bad idea. I'll be looking to catch this one.

Sandler should next play Bob Dylan, whom he already looks like in "Reign Over Me".

I actually quite like Adam Sandler movies (although most are due to them being related to stoner memories from college) but the trailers are really convincing enough for me to see this in theatres.

Trailer shows promise. Hopefully this ends up being a worthy follow-up to Binder's previous theatrical release The Upside of Anger in 2005.

Never really cared for Adam Sandler as a comedian/comic actor save for Waterboy. But, I really liked him in Punch Drunk Love and Spanglish. Saw the trailer for this a couple of months ago and have been looking forward to it.

Plus, it's got Don Cheadle, which is never a bad thing!

I still get a very Fisher King-like vibe.

I'm done with Sandler. I will NEVER watch another film of his again. This looks horrible. He is the same retarded man-child in every film including Punch Drunk Love which I thought sucked as well. I was waiting for him to switch gears in that film and really show me something but he never does. They hyped the performance way too much. He has burned me with his last 4 films, they are borderline unwatchable. He peaked with Gilmore which I can watch anytime it is on and I own the DVD as well.

PDL "man-child" was sort of the point, P.T. Anderson wanted to do another prespective of his normal characters from what I understood.

I thought he was great in Spanglish.

I thought it was a pretty good performance as well.

I'm not sure about this one; looks like it could go either way.

I don't like Adam Sandler

Not a huge fan of Mike Binder

I like the premise of this movie and Don Cheadle but don't know if it's enough to get me to see it. I'll wait for the reviews before dropping my money on it.

In my mind there's just no chance this movie can be bad. That's what worries me. I could be setting myself up for a major disappointment.

I'm thinking that we have a winner here also. As the reviews start to trinkle in on RT, it's looking good:

The only rotten review so far is from the horrible Christy Lemire of the AP.

This movie looks good. I like Sandler movies, well the one's where he isn't the son of Satan, and Don Cheadle's an excellent actor.

I have liked Sandler's more serious roles over the last several years much more than I have liked his comedic ones.

I thoroughly enjoyed Binder's The Upside of Anger.

and Cheadle is one of my favorite actors - I'll watch anything he's in.

I'm looking forward to catching this over the weekend w/ my wife.
