Best Actor looks like it could be the Oscar list, except Ken Watanabe is gaining some steam. I think the Director choices will be 100% the same on Oscar night.

No love for The Prestige? To me this was the best movie of the year followed by The Departed.

Odd seeing Pirates of the Caribbean up for Best Family Film. Especially when you compare it to the other noms.

I really hope 'Cars' does not win for best animated film, the most disappointing Pixar film IMO. 'Ant Bully' and even 'Hoodwinked' were much better and more entertaining (EW raved about 'Hoodwinked' and I agreed)

no nom for 'Bleak House' for Best Picture Made for Television for shame. 'When the Levees Broke' is a documentary and IMO should not be counted in this catagory.

I have yet to see 'Shut Up and Sing' since its from acclamied director Barbara Koppel, yet the documentaries that stood out for me included was 'Iraq in Fragments'.
Best Foreign-Language Film:
Apocalypto
Days of Glory
Letters from Iwo Jima
Pan's Labyrinth
Volver
Water
what - there's no competition here, it's going to Iwo Jima by a landslide

Monster House was my favorite of those (it's something of a classic, imho), though it'll probably be a race between Flushed Away (which I really enjoyed) and Happy Feet.

The Academy, and Golden Globe are the two most prestigious, merited awards for films. Critics' Choice, People's Choice and other secondary award ceremonies are standard acknowledgements.

I haven't seen it, but I know about the "eco lesson" and know how critics go apeshit for that kind of trite.
