Saw this movie last night. It was pretty funny.

The lines badmouthing Star Trek (which there were a lot of them) were hilarious.

Ha! Looks funny. I'll check it out when it's on Blu.

I too thought the trek vs.star wars bits were some of the funniest in the movie.

The guys detouring all the way to Kirk's "hometown" just to harass the Trek fans was hilarious.

The movie turned out to be better than I expected. Lots of funny gags and great cameos. The dying friend plot wasn't nearly as maudlin as I was afraid it was going to be.

And the final line of the movie.

Kristen Bell is hot.

Does no else notice that Kristen Bell is cross-eyed?

re: Fanboys (2009) Fowler, Baruchel, Huntington, Marquette, Bell

After sitting on my DVD shelf for a long time I finally pulled this out and popped it into the machine.

I was completely disappointed in this film. I'm a Star Trek and Star Wars fan and I just didn't find it funny at all. In fact I thought that the main Star Wars fans came across as being very mean spirited, especially toward the Star Trek fans.

Really the highlight for me was the cameos in the film. Shatner was the best for me. "I'm William Shatner. I can score anything."

I also found that the cancer subplot was like a 900lb anvil hovering over the movie. It just took away from the comedy of the film I thought.

I probably should have left it sit on the shelf instead.

I had the similar experience when I finally saw it. It really just wasn't funny and even felt forced (pardon the pun) at times. I didn't mind the cancer subplot at all, but the characters just weren't people I can identify with.

For next times, there's always the concept of "renting" instead of buying a movie.

I got the bare-bones Blu-ray for $5, less the price of a rental from Blockbuster here and it wasn't worth that 5 bucks.
