I haven't been to the movies in 6 or 7 years (I'm 19) and don't plan on going anytime in the near future. I find it to be very unpleasant, tickets are 8.50, the lines are long, I live 45mins away, the food is expensive and then there's that really obnoxious person who always has to laugh at the end of every scene.
And when it comes to watching a movie at home I have to watch it alone. I won't watch a movie with anyone, regardless of who they are. Because: A) They will spark up a conversation or B) pull my attention away from the movie. B is pretty much the main reason but when they do I just feel like leaning over at them and smacking them in the face.

I've also gone traveling, to concerts and eat out alone. Doesn't bother me at all.

Before I got married, I had no problem going to the movies on my own. Fortunately my wife and I like the same kinds of movies, so it's not really an issue now.

I used to go to the movies with friends. but now with a wife and kid and moving out of state, I end up going by myself when I have to go. I don't mind it so much. It beats going with the wife and being stuck watching something like The Notebook when I'd rather watch a real movie.

I go to the movies all the time solo, I love it. I can go when I want, where I want without worrying about getting other people to go. Plus I get the chance to sit in those "1 open chair in the middle of a big group" chairs and a great chance to meet new people.

The best part about going to the movies alone, you control when you get in the theater. Don't know why but when a movie starts at a certain time, 99.9% of the time, my friends show up at that time or a few minutes late. I totally miss trailers. I pretty much lie about start time to friends now and say it is 10 minutes earlier. This way when they show up late, they are actually early!
Other than fast food, I've never gone to dinner alone near my home. I had to when traveling for work and they pay for food (no way am I going to eat at Wendy's when they are paying for steak at a restaurant)

That said, I go both with people and alone. I usually only go with one friend of mine, and we both like pretty much the same stuff, so there's never a debate. It's either this movie's been out longer and may disappear sooner from the theater, or it's opening weekend and a horror flick and the asshole crowd is bound to be out in force. That's about it. We both like sitting in the same place roughly, so no troubles there either.
Personally, I'm pretty much a loner, so going to the theater alone is never a problem. Hell, I go to restaurants alone all the time too, whether it be a McDonalds or an actual restaurant. I'm constantly reading something, so it's no problem. The time or two I've forgotten a book and gone to eat, it gets crazy pretty fast. I feel like I'm always staring at other people!
Last two films seen alone: The Fountain on a Thursday and Apocalypto the next day...just this last week/weekend.

[QUOTE=verbal1062]Oh and I always buy the Pretzel Bites at Regal.QUOTE]
I wonder if there's more than one Regal theater company...I don't seem to recall any pretzel bites at mine. They've got regular pretzels, and they suck miserably. They're microwaved in a wrapper and handed to you in the wrapper. They always seem either stale and/or half way done and barely warm. Blech.
Muvico's pretzels are always damn near roof-of-the-mouth scalding hot. Good shit!

Sounds like it's time to start a new thread (found in Other).
