Maybe you can differentiate it...but to everyone else it's just a gay sex joke.

Wow, that's a fairly broad and inaccurate generaliztion on the mindset of the heterosexual community, Ms. O'Donnell. And that's not an anti-gay remark, but a reference to her 'view' today on an Aiken-Ripa misunderstanding.

You seem to know a lot about this movie for a guy who refuses to see it.

You obviously are. I puncuated my first comment with a smiley-wink to show I was being facetious but you took offense. I then specifically told you what my intent was and you still insist on taking offense and being discourteous.

You want some advice? Here it is: don't tell me how to fucking respond to things. You don't know me.
There's no cause for that and you're right. After this conversation, I'm not sure if I would want to know you. Discussion over.

Agreed.

That I'm right and that I wouldn't want to know you.

Any straight person who tells me I should laugh off homophobia can kiss my hairless ass.

You seem to know a lot about this movie for a guy who refuses to see it.
Only an idiot would need to see the actual movie after viewing the trailer to know what happens and what it's about. Clearly the people that have seen it agree with me. Why don't you take yourself to see it and you can tell me if I was wrong?

You should read my comments on that one in the thread I started. I happen to think she's dead wrong. Ripa couldn't be as big a madonna fan as she is and be homophobic. It just doesn't go together.

Of all the movies out currently that could spark this kind of tension, I must admit that this would not be the movie I picked to do that .

Anyways, it does look kinda funny to me. I tried to pull a double feature with this last weekend and didn't have the stamina. It's not something I'll be upset with if I miss it in theaters, but I'll check it out at some point. Although I'm worried about Dax ruining the already low expectations I have for this after his painful performance in Employee of the Month. THAT's a film worth some good scorn.

Is there any nudity? Surely a prison movie like this would be ripe with naked butts!

Is there anyone even remotely attractive IN it? I didn't remember anyone that I'd want to see nude in the trailer.

Joe, I'll send you a pic of my ass in case you turn up "dry" (so to speak) at the movie.

I was talking to my sister yesterday & asked if she'd seen the movie. She said yes & it was funny, but she didn't expect that. I said jokingly, what did you think it was, a drama? She said yes. Now we both saw the trailer when we went to the movies together a month ago. How could someone think it wasn't just a stupidly funny comedy from the trailer? Is my sister becoming that ditzy?

I'll leave that one alone.

People agree with you that its humor is mostly based on prison rape, not homophobia. I still see a huge difference. If you were incarcerated, would you fear being raped? Does that make you a homophobe?

It really didn't look that funny to me in the first place.

More importantly, why do you give a shit? You're the one in here stirring up shit after a post by someone that was clearly joking. If prison rape offends you, avoid the thread.

And I have to agree that prison rape and homophobia...different things.

P.S. You shouldn't be so uptight. It helps to laugh at yourself.

What if it's like sperm? What if it depends on what you've been eating to influence the taste?

Why does it seem like asking this question goes FAR BEYOND the boundary of good taste? Laff...

Would you accept money to hear heterophobic jokes? (c;

Are there any hetrophobic jokes? You know, I went to dictionary.com to check on the spelling of heterophobic (hetrophobic?) and it doesn't seem to have the word in there. With total shock, I did find homophobic. Am I detecting some sort of bias here?

EDIT: I seem to recall being amused by the prison stuff with Harland Williams, Tommy "The Squirrel Master" Chong and "Nasty Nate"...hell, I even chuckled at "Pros & Cons" with Larry Miller and Tommy Davidson, but I honestly can't recall if there was much in the way of rape references in it. I must admit though, I am very easily amused. I've never walked out of a movie in a theater, although there's one in hindsight I wish I had. It was so bad I can't remember the proper name....something like "Blindspot" or "Blindside" or some such. Saw at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF) a few years back.

harpo787: 3 posts in a row...would you shut the hell up?!?
Whoops...I guess I'll make it 4. What a maroon.

I watched this last night, and I thought it was pretty funny. It was FAR more than prison rape jokes. Only a couple scenes even dealt with the subject and Chi McBride made them all tolerable.

Maybe I liked it because I like most of the people involved (Odenkirk, Lennnon, Garant, Jann). I thought the script was good. Definitely different than any other prison movie I've seen with a good deal of very dry humor that takes a level of sophistication to appreciate. The "Will Ferrell" crowd will not have a good time with this one.
