Going to see a movie twice in the theatre
#26
Before home video did it all the time. I can remember as a kid sitting through a movie twice in the same day. All the time would see a movie and then go back multiple times with different people. The second time was usually the very next day(Halloween, Dawn of the Dead(orig), Scarface stick out in my mind).
As a kid in the 60s-early 70s I would go see the Bond movies over and over. Never knew if I would ever get another chance to see them. As of yet they had not been sold to tv and nobody ever heard of home video
DR. NO- 8 times
FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE - 8 times
GOLDFINGER - 5 times
THUNDERBALL - 5 times
YOLT - 5 times
OHMSS - 4 times
DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER - 15 times
Drive-ins routinely added older films as the second or third feature. Must have seen TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE at least once a year. Whenever something like a new Charles Bronsan movie came out they would tack on 1 or 2 of Charlie's older movies to the bill. Saw DEATH WISH multiple times.
And then there's the midnight showings of ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW. Is this still going on somewhere?

I saw Sin City 3 times, first time opening day, second time it was playing across the street from me and I was bored. Third time as a date
And I don't know if this counts, but I've probably seen Rocky Horror about 8 times

I do this quite often. The last film was the Departed. I've also seen this year Clerks II twice and POTC: Dead Man's Chest twice.
I perfer to see a film a second or more times with somone who hasn't seen it.

pretty much every film I like lately I've been going to see twice in the theater.I've got it down to a science, the first viewing gets my expectations out of the way and the second viewing it's like I'm watchingit for real, it lets me see the movie clearer in terms of how I will come to remember it.
I do this because in the past I would see a movie and hype it up in my mind formonths until the DVD came out, then once I'd watch theDVD I'd think 'meh...' Watching the movie twice lets me be more realistic about the film and how it plays in my mind.

When I was a kid I saw Major Payne in theaters twice and that's the only one I can think of where I had no reason other than just wanting to see it again. I saw Batman Begins, Catch Me If You Can, and *gasp* AVP twice in theaters just to go see them with a friend that had already seen them.

I've seen quite a few movies twice in the last year. I would see it once then a friend would want to see it so I would just go for shits and giggles.

Dark City: 5 times
Jin Roh: The Wolf Brigade: 3 times
Hellboy: 5 times
Ghost in the Shell: Innocence: 5 times
V for Vendetta 5 times
A Scanner Darkly: 4 times
Movies I've seen more than once in the theater: Too numerous to mention.
If I really liked the movie I will go back at least once. This is usually the very last time I will get a chance to see it on the BIG screen. The ones I see 4 and 5 times are the ones that I anticipate withdrawal symptoms from in that long drought known as the wait for the DVD release. You don't even want to know how many times I've seen those ones on DVD. (30 to 60 times for some ...so far.) Movies to me are like musical albums are to most people. I can know them line by line, but my enjoyment of them does not diminish.
And I am currently trying to get someone, who hasn't seen it, go see The Prestige with me again.

When I was a teen, working at the theater, I lived there. Saw pretty much every movie, no matter how crappy it was. And saw any good movie AT LEAST twice. Saw four or five movies a week.
Now I just go to see anything I think might be good. The last one I can vividly remember seeing twice was Man on Fire.

Pulp Fiction 6 times so far
Dead Alive 2
Army Of Darkness 2
Kill Bill Vol 1 3 1/2
Spiderman II 2 (plus once in IMAX)
The Two Towers 2
Return Of The King 2
Wayne's World 2
From Dusk Till Dawn 2
King Kong (2005) 2
28 Days Later 2
Bubba Ho Tep 2
House Of 1000 Corpses 2
Shaun Of The Dead 2
Land Of The Dead 2

Numerous others, obviously most often horror films. I have no qualms about seeing a movie a second time in theaters if I enjoyed it. There are 3 $1 theaters around so a lot of the time I'll catch second run films I loved the first time.

1997 was kind of my break out year for movie watching, so most of the films I've seen several times are from that year.
Contact (12)
Jurassic Park (7)
The Lost World (3)
The Fifth Element (4)
Men in Black (3)
Titanic (3)
L. A. Comfidential (2)
The Truman Show (2)
Eyes Wide Shut (3)
Fight Club (3)
Memento (2)
Dancer in the Dark (2)
The Fellowship of the Ring (4)
The Two Towers (4)
The Return of the King (2)
Batman Begins (2)
Revenge of the Sith (2)
Lawrence of Arabia (3, at various independent theaters. I just love the fact that even though I was born in 1981, I can honestly say I've seen Lawrence in theaters on three seperate occasions. )

I saw Star Trek II 3 times in the theater in it's 'first run,' and another 7 or 8 in subsequent bargain theater runs.
I never got tired of it. I do know the movie a little too well to REALLY enjoy it as much as I should now, but when I do watch it I do still enjoy it. (I just wish I hadn't watched it every day for a week when ST III came out to the bargain theater and they were playing as a double bill....)

No! If I liked a movie that much, I'll just wait for the DVD release, and buy it. It's cheaper. And besides, I rarely go to the movies anymore these days, because I prefer, and enjoy the comfort of my HT, without tolerating the moviegoers inconsiderate, annoying distractions in the theater.

I rarely go see a movie 2x. For me this year it was PTOC:2 though I will go see The Prestige again because I loved it so much. The only other movie I have seen 2x recently was Syriana.
