RIP Basil Poledouris

Basil Poledouris, known for such grand, lusty compositions as Conan the Barbarian, Robocop, and Starship Troopers has passed away at the age of 61.

So weird. I was just humming this theme earlier in the shower!

What I'll probably know him best for:

That's terrible news. He's done some great stuff from Conan the Barbarian to Hunt for Red October. Still, though, I think my favorite Basil score was actaully From Love of the Game. Great music in that one. It's such a shame. RIP.

61 is way too young. I loved his Conan and Robocop scores.

His score for the first Conan is an unsung masterpiece, IMO.

No, it's not a shame. I truly empathized for Basil Poledouris demise, but we all are going to leave this world someday. He's gone to a better place, where his spirit will live eternally.

Very sad, 61 is too young to go. I loved each and every one of his scores.

RIP Basil.

These people seem to be going at younger and younger ages. His work on Conan was outstanding, but Robocop and Starship Troopers were also nice and rushing.
I think Lonesome Dove is without a doubt his most beautiful score; I can barely listen to it without feeling like I'm going to cry.

The Conan soundtrack is not just one of my favorite scores, but one of my favorite albums of all time. This is devastating.
