Looks like Mario Puzo used the Bible as a guide. God casts Satan from heaven. God sends his only begotten son to earth. Jesus battles Satan and Satan is chained for 1,000 years and then is set free and gathers the armies of the world for one last battle.
Why not have Zod get his power back and go off into space and gather help from other planets to battle Superman & earth for one last battle.
Better story line than another origin movie about Superman.
Dude, there are more books in the bible than Revelations.

Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!

Anybody else read J. Michael Straczynsky's(sp?) recent Superman Earth One comic? I thought it was a good way to re-tell the origin of Superman in modern times without relying too heavily in established canon.

I'm still waiting for the Superman movie based on Leviticus. Superman's got rules...and we're going to hear all about them!

You have to look really hard to see that in the SEs, the image quality is quite grainy as it's only on deleted scenes. I hardly think that qualifies as canon.

Am I the only one that thinks Hayden Christensen would be excellent as Supes, while Gabourey Sidibe would make a great Lois?

Overall, I don't care what this winds up being, as long as it's different! No land schemes from Luthor, none of the same stuff we've already seen before. If they want to have a plot where Superman becomes a UFC fighter, I'll take it. Just be different!

Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!

If this is true, look like they are going with Birthright:

According to What's Playing, the film will truly be "Superman Begins," at lease in plot if not title. "A character breakdown issued to casting agencies this week says that the plot involves Clark getting involved in some sort of battle between two tribes in West Africa," they write. The breakdown also mentions this thread for the character, "When he is compelled to use his secret powers to intervene in a crisis in West Africa, Clark returns to Smallville to learn more about his origins and the hero he was born to be."

Funniest post in this thread! Hayden Christensen, wow....I thought that Gabourey Sidibe would be better as the Kingpin in the new Spiderman film.

Clark returns to Smallville to learn more about his origins and the hero he was born to be

I really hope this isn't true. I'm so tired of this same story. Who gives a crap about his origins and the hero he was born to be. People want to see action and see Superman do something other than dig up magic crystals in the attic of his house in Smallville...

Per Zach Snyder from InsideHollywoodNews:
"I love how Chris Nolan chose obscure villains for the Batman movies such as Two-Face, Carmine Falcone, Black Butter, and Salvatore Maroni, so we are going to go the same route and have Superman battle with Kryptonite Man, who is a pretty obscure comic book villain in the Superman universe. I have heard the fans requesting Brainiac and Darkseid as the villains for my film, but we [D.C.] think audiences will actually prefer Kryptonite Man."

I trust the camp behind this film, and I know rumors are to be taken lightly, but none of this sounds very good to me.

At this point, I don't think a graphic sex scene featuring Rashida Jones could make this movie good. I've got such a bad feeling about it.

Kryptonite Man.

Is this going to be another Golan-Globus production?

Maybe it's gonna be a remake of Superman 4. Nuclear Man = Kryptonite Man.

Kryptonite Man?

I never heard of him, wow how cheesy. We already know what is going to happen, he'll make superman weak, then Superman finds a way then kicks his butt.

Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!

I just want to say again - Kryptonite Man is not going to be the villain. I was just kidding.

I had no idea this villain actually existed. I typed his name into google trying to think of a goofy made-up Superman villain and then surprisingly, Kryptonite Man existed.

What's even worse is that, in the comics, Kryptonite Man used to be called Kryptonite Kid! If Synder does a trilogy, I would like to see Kryptonite Kid evolve into the infamous Kryptonite Man.

In the new movie, Superman might also have to go up against the evil Bike Master, who really does have a kryptonite bike lock that he uses to wrap around Superman's neck.

Re: Superman Returns Sequel is a GO!

Portland has had a campaign going for a local actor, Spencer Conway to get at least an audition. Frankly, if Routh was plucked out of a bar based on his looks, Spencer has one up on him with the right look (although he would definitely need to work out to fill out the suit) and talent.

Today though, a very funny audition video was posted.

He's coming across as a cross between Johnny Galecki and Chris Klein.

He's like a younger version of Daran Norris

And I continue to be thrown off by David Walker's happy-go-lucky voice. His writings always had me envisioning a combo of Sam Jackson and Randy Savage.
