Clerks II as well actually. Not to the point of U93 (which I have yet to see)... just a great way to compliment the first film. Randall, you sweetheart.
Little Miss Sunshine & Akeelah are up there. Both very uplifting films.

I have to agree with Little Miss Sunshine, though. That was the last one that choked me up. Two scenes: The girl's last scene with grandpa, and the girl's silent scene with the brother on the side of the road.

Clerks II did have some horrible acting, enjoyed the writing though and agree that it was borderline moving in spots. Same with Little Miss Sunshine (except, yeah, that one had good acting and enjoyable writing).

There's a twofer DVD out of two of the three versions of "Don Quixote" directed by G.W. Pabst in 1933, the French and the British (a third German version didn't make it apparently). Both movies are about 1 hour long, shot with different actors, except for the title role (Russian bass singer Feodor Chaliapin who played the same character on the stage for 25 years in Massenet's opera of the same name). Both films are missing several minutes, are damaged and have frames missing, but the idealism of Don Quixote still comes through and the photography is very evocative of Gustave Doré's engravings of the famous novel.

the most recent one that really had an effect on me was Cinema Paradiso, which i just created a thread about. but, i'll have to say, i think the original theatrical version is much more effective than the extended director's cut.
before that, Little Miss Sunshine also got me right in the gut a few times.
didn't use to be someone who normally got choked up in movies, but i think it's happening more recently...

Depends on what you really mean be "moved"... I feel like nearly every movie I see affects me somewhat (obvious exceptions: Talladaga Nights, Wedding Crashers, etc.) so the last one that moved me was the last one I saw: The Last Kiss.
The ones that have affected me most: The Bicycle Thief, Amelie, and in a strange way Miller's Crossing.

I couldnt agree more. Can anyone say propaganda?
Last movie that really moved me, the fact that I cant really remember one in recent memory really says something about the overall decline in the quality of good movies these days. I would have to say Al Gore's An Iconvienent Truth was pretty moving, more so than anything else I have seen recently.
PS...

Upon the conclusion of A Scanner Darkly, a palpable sense of sadness formed that still surfaces when I recall the film. Moreso than any revelations or joys from anything else I've seen this year.
Well, maybe Renoir's The River (1951) occupies the other side of the emotional spectrum...

The last one I saw that really moved me - The Proposition.
The Iron Giant and E.T. make me blubber like a baby every time.

I just finished watching a film from the Film Movement DVD subscription series entitled Be With Me about three stories centering around the theme of love. A powerful haunting life affirming film with an amazing performance by actual deaf and blind actor Theresa Chan. Several scenes had me in tears. Excellent movie - highly recommended.

GI Joe the Movie.....no sorry United 93.
I had to fight back the tears, just when the plane took off.
I've never been so moved by a film since I saw Fearless (another plane film), perhaps it's the helplessness of being in a plane.
But I was crying at the end like a baby girl.
Truely moving, this is also the reason I will not watch WTC, because I believe it will not be able to live up to United 93.

Cannibal Holocaust
*SPOILERS*
I didn't know whether to feel bad for the kids, or not, since they probably deserved what they got. But they wanted it all for the spotlight, which says what about the business that made them like that.
