Slightly off topic, but I heard an interview with Busta Rhymes promoting Halloween 8 where he not only spoiled the fact that he doesn't die, but was actually bragging about it. Like "I'm so hard even Michael Myers can't touch me!"

What about the movie where he dies and comes back?

Or Young Guns, which he was only in for like six seconds.

At the opposite end, what about someone like Sean Bean, where you're surprised when he LIVES throughout the movie?

Huh? I think you're confusing him for
Spoiler:
Charlie Sheen
. Either that or I seriously need to rewatch my DVD of Young Guns.

Perhaps he's trying to avoid the cliche. Instead he's become another - overmuscled rapper with no perceptible acting skill.

Nope. Cruise had an uncredited role in Young Guns and was only on screen for a short amount of time.

Really? At what point in the film does he appear? I want to be able to keep an eye out for him when next I watch the movie.

I think he was in the final gunfight somewhere. If I remember correctly, he had a goofy beard and mustache and gets shot as he walks out of a door.

He's one of the guys behind the barricade that gets hit. If you've got the SE, the commentary and text track points out exactly where he is.

he's basically an extra who gets killed in the final gunfight. It takes place during the escape from the buring house. If my memory is correct, you see Cruise shooting, then Charley Bowdre shoots him, then he dies in slow motion. You can tell it's Cruise when he's falling to the ground.

The original ending had him die. But it was changed because during test screenings (which I was lucky to attend)
Spoiler:
everyone hated that Saffron Burrows survived.
