I would change one thing about my first post. I think SR was definitely better than Spider-Man 2. Though probably not better than X2.
If they had Darkseid or a similar badass in SR, that probably would have been the only thing that could have me prefer SR over BB. |
Well, I wasn't going to post in this thread, but I accidentally voted for the wrong movie. So, subtract one from Batman Begins and add it to Superman Returns.
I wasn't blown away by either film, but I thought SR was better. I never did get the love for BB. |

I don't get the love for Batman Begins either. I get the character, and I even like the character of Batman, but I was expecting something much more spectacular and more imaginative than what I saw. I thought the '89 Batman was more entertaining and creative, despite not being "true" to the comic. As always, everyone has different tastes. You shouldn't assume that just because Tracer Bullet doesn't get the love for BB, that he doesn't get the character. *Shurg* Batman: SWEAR TO ME!!! I wonder, when the director said cut, if the guy Bale was holding over the balcony complained about him spitting in his face and overacting. |

Was the character interesting as Bruce Wayne and retarded as Batman in the comic books? If so, I guess they stayed faithful to it. I don't get the love for Batman Begins either. I have to say I've enjoyed ALL Batman movies more than Superman Returns (aside from Batman & Robin obviously). If ranking them, I'd probably put Superman Returns on level with Batman Forever, but it's close.

I agree. Batman is not supposed to be like the lame 60's Adam West Batman. Batman is the Dark Knight Detective, keyword: Dark. He chose the bat as his character because bats are scary, and he wants to scare the shit out of the bad guys. |

While I like Batman Begins, I agree with Johnny Boy. that "Swear to me!" scene is one of my least favorite parts of it. I would've preferred if he'd said it the same way he did the "I'm Batman" line. Would've been more effective IMO.

I loved the swear to me scene. Honestly, if that's the only thing you can criticize about Bale's performance, then he turned in a fucking great performance.

The whole time that Christian Bale was in the Batsuit his voice changed into a weird mixture of Keanu Reeves and Clint Eastwood. He just sounded really stupid. I wish they could combine a movie and have Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne with Michael Keaton's Batman performance. Michael Keaton knew how to be Batman. |
