I wonder if a PG-13 is written into their contract?

This is a series where "inexperience" has paid off more than a larger filmography. Also, they have a background in commercials, music videos and special effects much like Ridley Scott, James Cameron and David Fincher.
What's crazy is that Cameron was signed to do Aliens before Terminator was even made. So that means Fox signed him on the basis of Pirahna 2: The Spawning.

Hmmm, we will see! Give us Alien 5 instead, with Ridley Scott instead!

As far as the Alien and Predator movies, the only one that was a gritty horror film was A L I E N. Sure Aliens was a bit creepy, but it was more of an action film to me, as well as Predator.

So they are finally going to make an Alien vs Predator movie. Interesting.

Also, if anyone was to make another Alien film, I would love to see Ridley take the helm again.

Aliens has more suspense and scares in it than twenty horror movies today have. It's got plenty of action, I agree, but there is real terror in that film.

You do know they already made one, right? It sucked balls, but they made it.

I'm conflicted about the idea that Ridley Scott should revisit the series. One thing I always liked about the series is how each director put their stamp on it. Even when the results were less than spectacular (3) or flat out bad (4), it was cool to see a different take on the series, and the species. Ridley certainly made one of the best horror/sci-fi films ever with Alien, but he is so hit and miss that I don't think lightning would strike twice should he decide to do another one. And if they do make another one, please please PLEASE do not bring Sigourney Weaver back. She is the stone around the series' neck at this point. She was absolutely essential in the first three, but the fourth was the time to take the series somewhere else. Since they didn't, they should just ignore the fourth and make the fifth be a new start.

Right on, Suprmallet!

As for this film, I don't have high hopes. They're still going with that Salerno script, which means aliens and predators battling it out at a K-Mart in Texas.

Anybody that read the script review over aintitcoolnews a few months ago, knows this will be a turd.
I know they aint reliable, but it came from Moriarity, probably the most reliable poster over there. so I will give it the benefit of the doubt.

Two words: it sucks.

As for the quotes about making the movie - "make a serious, gritty horror film,"
How the hell can you make a serious, gritty horror film out of the AvP knockoff franchise? I mean the first movie was such a big wet fart on both the franchises.

This is the sort of franchise where they can essentially restart each time. I'd like to see them just ignore the first one and concentrate on giving us the film we really want.

Ridley Scott peaked out with Alien and Blade Runner, just like Fincher peaked out with SE7EN and Fight Club. The dream there is over. (I only wish Chris Cunningham had been given the chance to peak with Neuromancer. )

As someone who despises Cameron's Aliens and is puzzled by how underrated Alien 3 seems to be and basically doesn't really think any of the franchise movies were worth a shit after Alien or Predator, I'm strangely looking forward to this. In fact IMO AvP was the best offering since the initial films. Difference being it turned out fun when I expected nothing at all.

After Ash fights Freddy and Jason, maybe we can have Alien and Predator vs. Ash and Jack Bauer.

I guess I can see how others view ALIENS as a scary film. I guess I still remember the terror I felt when I saw A L I E N in the theater at 5 years old. My father didn't realize it would be so intense. I still get the same feelings when I watch it alone, in the dark, as I did when I was 5.

I would love to see Ridley's visual style in the series again. Hell, he could make a new Alien film without humans in it, just watching the Aliens in their natural habitat, and I would be happy. I know that wouldn't go over too well though. I also agree that Weaver should not be brought back.

I was expecting less than nothing and it was even less than that. Hell, the original Phil Norwood comics were better than that pile.

Have you considered giving Alone in the Dark, House of the Dead or BloodRayne a rental? Or perhaps you've already seen them at the theater, paying for full-priced evening showings.

I was planning on leaving the theater after about 45 minutes of AVP, but I decided to stick around! I'm glad I did, because the movie only had about 25 minutes left and I got to see such great moments as the "Coed Predator Human Bobsled Team" and the intergalactic tag team with stupid plastic spears.

As someone who finds Aliens to be the greatest film ever made, that's just......wow.
