Question about R. Zombie's Halloween
I watched Zombie's Halloween remake last night, and I enjoyed how he stuck in a number of cameo-type roles for folks like Udo Kier, Sid Haig and Sybil Danning (which I recognized during the film).
But I noticed Micky Dolenz and Daniel Roebuck in the credits, but wasn't aware of them as I watched. Who were they in the film? |
Roebuck: Halloween (2007) .... Lou Martini
Dolenz: Halloween (2007) .... Derek Allen I love Udo Kier. |

Dolenz was the gun store owner.
Roebuck was the TV talk show host. |

From Bloody-Disgusting:
Some very interesting developments come in this morning courtesy of Shock, who report that Rob Zombie has officially come on board to write and direct Halloween 2 for Dimension Films. They also write that filming is slated for March, which means Zombie will have to hit the gas on writing a script, unless he's secretly been developing it over the past few months. Sources close to us have told us that Zombie has been asked repeatedly to produce the remake, and Zombie even told us he wouldn't stick his name on something unless he was actually involved in the creative process. We've put out calls and e-mails to various sources attempting to get some sort of confirmation (and the silence makes me think something is definitely up), we'll get back to you with an update as soon as it comes in. |
Crap :(

I liked Zombie's remake better than any of the Halloween sequels, so I'd probably be on board for this, if he's able to actually do something interesting with the material. |
what the fuck i thought he was working on Tyrannosaurus Rex. this is the worst idea in the world. he needs to stick to original material.

No trying to merge this with the Devil's Rejects spirit, okay. Try it even slightly, I'll be pissed. As much as I love The Devil's Rejects, Halloween is not a universe where "fuck" is uttered as much as in The Departed and The Big Lebowski.
The only advantage I can see is there being more Brad Dourif, who was one of the few good things about the remake. Spoiler:

If Zombie's Halloween sequel is to Halloween what The Devil's Rejects was to House of 1,000 Corpses, then I might be on board. The remake was just very...blah.
|
Zombie's Halloween wasn't horrible but making Michael Myers a (borderline) victim was a bad choice. However, it was still better than all the sequels and if you look at it as just another Halloween sequel it stacks up pretty well.
I wonder if Part 2 will follow the original part 2 and take place almost exclusively in a hospital. Although perhaps this time they could make it a little more realistic and actually have more than 2 people in the entire building! |

It's official: Zombie is directing H2.

It's official: Oh no.

Christ. I can honestly say I'd rather see Joe Chapelle direct another Halloween film, and I've been pissed about what he did to H6 since 1995.
No director has ever completely and instantly lost my goodwill as Rob Zombie did from Devil's Rejects to Halloween. And, yes, I've seen LaBute's Wicker Man remake AND M Night's Lady in the Water. |

You read it here first, fiends. Rob Zombie is re-teaming with Dimension Films to direct a follow-up to 2007's Halloween entitled H2. Variety, who confirmed our news break (yet, sadly, offers no credit), says the new film will pick up where Zombie's reboot ended "following the aftermath of Michael Myers' murderous rampage through the eyes of the sister he hunted." Sources tell us that Zombie's vision for the sequel - which will not resemble Rick Rosenthal's original second installment - is "crazy" and a "totally unique approach" for a next chapter. "I was so burned out. (But) I took a long break, made a record and I got excited again," Zombie tells Variety. "Now, we'll be hauling ass, and that's the problem making a movie called 'Halloween': If you come out Nov. 1 or after, nobody cares. If it was called anything else, I'd be fine." Tyler Mane will reprise his role as Michael Myers; it's unknown if Scout Taylor-Compton or Malcolm McDowell will encore as Laurie and Dr. Loomis, respectively. Production begins in March with its release targeted for October (a similar turnaround on Zombie's first Halloween). Malek Akkad of Trancas International Films will produce alongside Spectacle Entertainment's Andy Gould. |
How truly awful. I'm starting to think Rob Zombie just takes jobs so Tyler Mane has work.

well i've officially given up on rob zombie.

I'll see it. I wasn't his remakes biggest fan (Devil's Rejects was much better and House was very underrated) but I thought it was much better than most people gave it credit for. I think a lot of the hate stems from the original being placed on such a high pedestal. I may get flamed for this but the original hasn’t aged well and I’ve found that the very poor acting by most of the cast now completely pulls me out of the movie.
I know several younger people (including my 16 year old son) who upon reading about people praising the original over the remake, watched it for the first time and didn’t find it very interesting or scary. Now I can remember seeing it for the first time at age 11 and it scaring the shit out of me. I still recognize those feelings when I watch it now but I can appreciate what the younger generation says as well. Rob’s Halloween may not be a masterpiece, but looked at completely separate from the original it wasn’t bad either. Knowing what the fan’s think and expect I can imagine Rob surprising everyone and making a very good movie. He has the talent. |

Me too |
Looking forward to it.
Anything Halloween related is welcome in my book. |
I was rather dissappointed by the first but I will certainly give this one a chance. Hopefully he can learn from his mistakes on this one much like he learned from his mistakes the last time he directed a sequel to one of his films (Devil's Rejects). I hope Dourif and McDowell return.
