BUMP

For any fans of True Romance, you should check out the series The End of the F***ing World on Netflix.

Also, when are we going to get a new Bluray for this? The old one is out of print.

Along with The Hunger it is Tony Scott's best film.

A favorite despite Tarantino having written it. Patricia Arquette is sexy as hell and Christian Slater is actually very good.

Fixed.

Scott never had another script that good to work with in his entire career.

The only other Scott film I like is UNSTOPPABLE, which happens to be a great train movie, if you like train movies. (I do.)

I'll throw in Domino for my personal Tony Scott trilogy of great films, with Revenge and Crimson Tide rounding out the Top 5.

With a different director Goodfellas probably wouldn't have been as good, but you have to give credit to the writing.

The Scott brothers are only as good as the writing, that is why IMO most of their filmography ranges from mediocre to straight up Michael Bay type garbage. With a different writer, True Romance would probably have been shit.

Re: True Romance (1993) -- Appreciation Thread

Its one of my favorite movies of all time. Damn good score and music as well.

I tend to like a lot of Tony Scott movies and many play a certain way with me. I will watch them, get pissed off with the frenetic cutting/editing and end up not particularly liking the movie, but i will always give them a second chance and usually upon second or third viewings i will start appreciating them a lot more. Classic example was Spy Game which i didnt care for first time, but now see as one of his best movies. Hell i hated Dominio first time i saw it, but now i like it quite a lot. A shame he is no longer with us.

Favorite movie of all time.

In fact, excited as hell to attend the True Romance Fest in Hollywood in a couple months! Just going to the viewing party (with special guests) and not staying at the Safari, but still should be a blast watching with a couple hundred superfans as well.

I was being facetious.

To say that True Romance was good, despite Tarantino, is like saying Seven Samurai was quite good, despite Kurosawa!

I saw Spy Game with a date in the theater. It was awful. No, I didn't get laid that night either, so I refuse to revisit it.

I was lucky enough to come across this shirt on eBay which is virtually identical to the Hawaiian shirt Clarence wears in the movie.

A similar shirt is worn in the show I was talking about before. Clearly referencing TR.

QT said that the Burl Ives song was the only song (From his script) that made it into the film. I've always wondered what the the other original songs were.

I absolutely adore True Romance, I was thinking of checking out the show you mentioned and now I definitely will! And yeah, a new Blu-ray would be great to see.

If you take a girl to watch Brad Pitt and Robert Redford for 2 hours and don’t get laid, it wasn’t cause of the movie.

True Romance is one of my favorite movies and certainly one of Taratino's best written scripts for sure!

That’s not a very close match.
