I’m ok with the first one being trimmed down a good bit. If I were to have directed a movie on this trilogy, the first book would have been the one I would have made the most changes with. Most of the book reads like a D&D module. It has a lot of superfluous scenes that really don’t add a lot to the overall story. It really appeared to be really long advertisement for the new Dragonlance Campaign. It wasn’t until the second book did the trilogy really turn into something epic.

Big bump.

The DVD cover art:

The trailer:

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UHrOfJ8_D0o&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UHrOfJ8_D0o&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

Holy crap. That looks horrid. I loved the Dragonlance books when I was a kid, but that trailer is just god awful. The 1980s style animation mixed with modern CGI makes me .

Raistlin just looks wrong. He is supposed to look sickly which doesn't come across in the trailer. His hourglass eyes are supposed to be sinister. People would avoid looking at his eyes because it would send up a chill up their spines. I don't see any of that.

And where was Tasslehoff? The second best character after Raistlin is not in the trailer at all...

Yeah, that looks pretty bad... loved the books (well at least the first 30 or so, lost interest after a while). Agree Raistlin looks/sounds far too healthy there.
Never wish a favorite book to be made into a movie, it will always fall short of your expectations in some manner and most likely will be butchered !

I just saw this at another site and came here to post the same thing. What the hell are they thinking? If it was straight up 80's style animation, I would probably give it a watch, but now it looks like the D&D equivalent of some sort of A-ha video.

bump, cause i rented this last night. thank god it was a free rental. but now i feel bad for wasting a free rental on it.

it was HORRIBLE, HORRID, GHASTLY, PUTRID - the list of bad adjectives could go on and on...

the mix of CGI and traditional animation was really bad - the draconians were hilariously awful.

then i just loved how they tried to throw in random cleavage shots to appease the "Heavy Metal" fanbase.
