I can't wait til UNITED 93 plays in the local Baghdad multiplex theater. After watching this movie, they will understand now why they are getting "cared" for by the US govt./military...

I clicked on the movie forum.
I saw a post about a movie.
I noticed that it was 10 pages long.
Out of curiosity, I opened the last page.
Sure enough, it's about politics.

I cannot even begin to try to explain to you the meaning of empathy and conscience.
You said you were going to let it go and leave the politics out of it yet you keep coming back for more...and proving my point with every word you utter.

i've officially decided to stop posting in this thread unless it is movie related. though i won't change my opinions, i will apologize if they have offended anyone. lastly, i know what a cell phone is. for some reason i lost my train of thought and typed "self." i decided to reply to an ignorant statement with an ignorant asnwer, and the condescending views totally missed the sarcasm.

Exactly. That was the point of this thread from the beginning.
Politics are due in another forum. Thanks for understanding. I don't post much at all in the politics forum as I don't wish to get involved in that type of debate. I'm only interested in movie reviews in this area and that is what this thread was intended for in the first place.
I'm thinking of seeing this film again. Not sure as it was very powerful...but it does deserve a big screen showing instead of home theatre.

All politics, trolling, conspiracies et al aside, I finally got around to seeing the film. Though, with no primary interest in seeing it on my own (a friend convinced me), I went in with a fairly neutral postion .. and I have no personal agendas or otherwise as others seem to around these parts. Some (no names mentioned) on this thread leave me with the impression that they wish they were on that doomed flight just to damn near prove what truly happened without a doubt.
I found the film to be interesting and informative for what it was .. in that it does offer insight into one very likely scenario, if not completely altruistic. I'm a skeptic by nature and was always in the conspiracist's camp that believed the plane was shot down. The information in the film didn't completely change that, but if anything the film allowed me more appreciation of the other side of it. I attribute this to the fact that the film was delivered effectively through the methods used. Solid acting, good camerwork .. at times making you feel as if you were on the plane as the situations were unfolding .. and very good pacing and story developement, further feeding into the angst and uncertainty that everyone .. from the controllers, the feds, the passengers and so on were going through. If others out there feel as if the pacing should have been different .. more similarly to an 'edge of your seat' ficticious event, then you're misinterpreting the purpose of this film to begin with.
I didn't enjoy the film as this isn't one to be .. on any front. I appreciate it for what it is. It's a sad story and thankfully, it seemed to be treated with care and respect to all those directly affected or involved during that day. I can only imagine what it must have been like to be any one of those people. It is not overdramatic (which was a fear of mine going in), overly analytical about particular aspects or overpolitical. It seemed to be presented in a way that just let things play out as they occured.

Staying on topic. We saw this at a Tuesday afternoon showing. We both really liked the film. Very powerful. High recommendation.

/sarcasm note The people in this thread also believe the visuals of the movie are important enough to see it on the big screen...unless that is you have a 20+ foot screen in your living room... /sarcasm note

I remember when it was over appreciating that I had no distractions, or even the option of pausing the movie to take a break from the intensity. I think what works so well in the movie is how the tension is gradually ratched up during the course of its running time. Having distractions like bathroom breaks or the phone ringing would break that tension.
I also appreciated seeing it with a large group of strangers, as well as the friends I was with. It made for a "communal" film-going experience, which fit "United 93" well.

I'm glad to hear the overall reaction to the film is positive. I'm still debating over whether to see it or not, but I'm leaning toward going this weekend or early next week. I know I should go before the blockbusters push it out.

I thought this movie was incredibly well done. I probably have never been so constantly gripped by a movie throughout. I saw it in a small screen in a theatre but it was packed and it was the most silent room I have ever been in. Everyone walked out in complete silence.
It's great, but I don't know if I can ever see it again. I'm as cynical as they get but I was pretty moved by this.

amazing movie. i loved the realism of it. people actually said "umm" it was crazy. in actually drew me more into the movie because it seemed more real. there weren't any amazingly drawn out speeches of inspiration or anything like that. there weren't any rediculously hot hollywood women.
it was just a great, realistic movie.
one other thing i was thinking. i had read a lot of people earlier in this thread stating that they didn't want to walk out of a movie feeling mad at a group of people, that group being radical islamic terrorists.
my thought is, why not? cuz if you go see a movie that is based on fact**, something that is based on actual events, and it makes you mad, then you should be mad at them. it would be ignorant to just pass by your feelings.
**what i mean by fact: while storming the cabin and taking over the pilot is still in question, the fact is they hijacked planes, took down buildings, killed people. please dont assume that when i say fact or realistic in this post that i mean everything that happened in the movie on the plane actually happened in real life.
