Trailers with Oscar winners/nominees
It seems now that almost every movie trailer that is of a serious nature and has an oscar winner/nominee in it, advertises it in the trailer. even when the actual winner wins an oscar not for acting they still get advertised as such....(oscar winner ben affleck comes to mind, he won for writing not acting, there might be a reason for that).
what i want to know is why some movies only adverstise certain actors and not others. i just saw the tv trailer for inside man, and it advertised Academy Award winner Denzel Washington, Academy Award nominee Clive Owen and Academy Award winner Jodie Foster. yet the trailer clearly shows Willem Dafoe who is a 2 time oscar nominee and he gets no advertising.
another one was the trailer for Manchurian Candidate which showed Academy Award Winners Washington and Meryl Streep. and nothing for Jon Voight who is also a winner. granted Jon Voight is in everything these days but he did win just like the other two so if you're going to advertise those 2 why not him too?
i assume it's just popularity marketing?
