Wow wow wow... this was fantastic. There were a LOT of movies from 2005 where I simply held off (this was one of them) and man, am I sorry. I thought this was one of the better serious movies I've seen in a long time. Much better than Traffic.

I also think Alexandre Desplat had a very very effective score.

Another one here that liked it. I thought it was almost as good as Traffic, but not quite.

It's much heavier and complex and, despite its 2 hr 8 min runtime, quite a lot is crammed in, particularly during the first act.

I thought I was doing quite well keeping up, but then I lost it in the final half hour and only partially grasped it all. Hopefully I'll have better luck on the next viewing.

I prefer a 10-star barometer

This movie is a mess! I can't believe you guys even liked it much less rave about it. At 2hrs and 8min, it's about 2 hrs too long. They could have summed it all up with the arab prince conversation to matt damon and the texas oil man's corruption speech. That's the whole movie right there. The oil industry is very corrupt, mmmkay? Total boring and confusing plot. 1 out of 5 stars from me.

Wow, I can't believe there is someone that didn't like it! This was one of my favorites from last year, and I didn't think I would like it at all when I walked in, but the story was amazing and the acting was also!! The plot was a little hard to understand, but the premise is so interesting that it really makes it for it!

This movie just keeps growing on me. I saw it today for the 4th time in the past year and it never disappoints. As a plus, I understand more of the plot each time.

I think this is one of those movies that gets better each time you watch it. The first time I saw it, I really liked it but was a little confused. On each viewing I start to understand the motives and whats actually going on more

I thought it was a decent movie, not the greatest ever but I bought it on DVD when it came out last summer and i thought it was an intresting plot that i thought could have been a little bit more intresting but the excellent Clooney who is good even if the movie is bad made it more intresting and a good preformance by Matt as well.
Very nice cinematography and was very pleasing to eyes.

Yes, I'm late to the party, but I just got Syriana from Netflix today.

A pretty good flick...I liked how easily the story lines were meshed together. George Clooney...
Spoiler:
...taking the torture made me cringe...UGH!

Good movie though. I should have watched it earlier.

Re: Anyone looking forward to Syriana?

Great movie. Saw it back when it was in theaters. Been watching it lately. Most-everything was easy form me to follow.

One question, though.

Spoiler:
What was Clooney's character's motivations at the end? Why was nothing said? Did he not know that someone was watching? It leads to a great moment. And, every time I see it, I wish he urged the prince to get out of his car. It just feels like more urgency would have been more justified. It's a great, seemingly-deep moment. But I'm still a bit confused.
