One of the lines I really liked was:

"Fuck Randy and his high score. He's my brother and I say fuck em."

I went on Friday night with a date. I'm 38 and she is 36. We were the oldest people in the theater, but the late teens/early 20's crowd, that clapped whenever Samuel Jackson was Samuel Jackson made this movie worth watching. I have not had that much fun in a theater since the midnight showings of Halloween when I was 19 and smoked pot in the theater.

This is an extremely fun movie, I am taking my 11 year old son next weekend and a neighbor kid who is 16. Hope the theater is just as rowdy as it was on Friday.

Hope the kids enjoy the boobies (cost $6 million more of reshoots to add those shots to make the most of the R rating).

If I were a parent, I'd be a lot more concerned about the violence than the boobies...

Or the violence ON the boobies. ;)

I saw this movie last night and I throughly enjoyed it, can't wait for the dvd.

The Bus 08-21-06 11:12 PM

Just got back from it. I thought it was on par with Cellular, maybe a little less good. The beginning suffered from very bad pacing problems but once the movie hit its stride it was pretty good. Another case of a movie that can be brought down by its own hype.

I took a poll from my gf and my friend who saw the movie with us, and our favorite snakes were the titty snake, the dick snake, and the big anaconda.

The line that had me rolling was when the lights first go out in front of the cabin, about 20 minutes after the snakes appear, you can hear someone frightened yell out "Snakes!" as soon as the light is shut off. The delivery of the line had me

This should do great on video. It's not that good of a theatre movie.

majorjoe23 08-22-06 08:48 AM

That "Snakes!" line had me laughing for minutes.

Whoever did that is a douchebag.

GoldenJCJ 08-22-06 10:43 PM

Can you imagine sitting in a dark theater and having rattlesnakes slithering under your seat!? Fuck that!

Those kids are assholes. Letting them get bitten by snakes seems like fair enough punishment.

PixyJunket 08-23-06 07:52 AM

Fucking internet kids. Sad. -ohbfrank-

The funny thing is, being deathly afraid of snakes as i am, the thought of someone doing that actually crossed my mind during the movie. Let's just say i'm glad i wasn't in the theater that it actually happened in!

Luckily they never had this kind of problem with JAWS.

Sure, but all of the lame Snakes stuff over the last year on MySpace indicates a high probability of one scenario over the other.

Also, from the article:

"There were kids at the show, and it was actually very reckless," Russ Johnson, the president of the Phoenix Herpetological Society told Reuters.

So you're fine with predetermining the culprits to be kids without any evidence?

Also, from the article:
That quote's referring to the kids in the audience who were at risk during the incident. The article doesn't identify the potential culprit at all.

Here's an interesting turn of events:

Damn kids with their loud rock music and their hula-hoops and their not putting snakes in theaters!

Giantrobo 08-24-06 03:57 AM

This was the dumbest movie I've seen in years but I had one hell of a time seeing it. I was in tears for about 90% of the movie.

Samuel held it together like nobody's business. I mean some of the shots of his face looking at people while they were saying and or doing stupid things were classic!

FaustBos 08-24-06 04:23 PM

I just posted in another thread, the biggest movie disappointment I ever had. On the flip side... I'd have to say, Snakes on a Plane far exceeded my expectations and not only that, it was pretty damn good.

I've been following the hype on this one, and prior to that had already expected this to be a pop corn run of the mill, seen it all before film.. Boy was I suprised.

I'm at the Haugesund Film Festival in Norway, and though, Snakes was not on the program, they managed to get a copy and added a late night showing.

I dont know why but I suddenly wanted to see this film. Probably to see how bad it was, so we all met at the designated time, and yes, with rubber snakes in hand. We knew there would be at least one screeming girl in throwing distance (and there was).

My surprise: the film was intentionally funny. It knew all the cliche's and played them perfectly. Hell i'm even going to see it again. My one complaint is this. They made a point of having a kick boxer on the plane.... why oh why didn't they have a kick boxing fight with the snakes!!

Anyway, my recommendation, see it in a crowded theater, and don't forget to bring your own!!

I agree. I saw it with a small crowd at a late showing and I had fun so I can only imagine what kind of energy a crowded room would have.

FaustBos 08-25-06 04:52 AM

It felt like the Rocky Horror Picture Show. People were laughing and screaming. The rubber snakes we brought really got a few good screams. This girl behind us screamed so loud. We handed a snake to her boyfriend and at the right moment, he dropped it in her lap.

you know a film is good when their is a parody of Airplane. I nearly fell off my chair when i heard in the background. "The white zone is for immediate loading and unloading of passengers only. There is no stopping in a red zone.".

yes, we hear that at airports but i'm sure the placement was intentional hehe.

And, the very last scene of the film had me laughing so hard. I'm sure you know the one I mean. I'll probably see it again (god I never thought I'd say that about Snakes on a Plane). Can't wait for the sequal.... Snakes on crack.

GatorDeb 08-25-06 02:27 PM

Haven't seen this yet... probably Sunday or Monday. I just have to say that I don't know any other movie where fans said "insert this line in the movie!" and it was actually done! That has to be one of the coolest things ever.
