There were cheers in the the theatre when i went to see it on that line. Its a great line too. I didnt know that line was fan based.

I think this movie has a greater potential to become a new audience participation movie along the lines of Rocky Horror Picture Show. It will have a cult following for years to come, and one that could grow on home video. I could see midnight showings of this movie as the audiences come up with participation routines to do during the movie.

Well, it finished eighth on Friday in box office take...so much for "word of mouth". Guess these SNAKES are dead. :(

It takes a truly talented director to take an idea as fun as this and make a completely banal movie. Seriously. In the hands of anybody else we might have had something.

I was having a conversation with a friend online the other day saying that Ronny Yu (SOAP's original director) would've made a better film, but I disagree. Then again, this is coming from someone who hated the paths he took Bride of Chucky and Freddy Vs. Jason down.

In all honesty, there is a great 80 minute film presented within Snakes on a Plane. If I would've made the film:

1. I would've skipped out on all the subplot mafia bullshit and started the film right in the airport. Everything that happens in the first 10 minutes of the film can be explained with a few sentences of dialog and nobody would even bat an eye.
2. By the 20 minute mark, I would've let the shit hit the fan.
3. Increase the mayhem. More deaths, more gore, more swearing, more nudity, more snakes.
4. I would've dropped a majority of the B-plot completely. I would've let Jackson make contact with the ground and they'd appear later on during the third act.

I had that exact same thought.

It has brought in $35,330,999 at the box office worldwide so far.

And somebody else would be making the same comment you're making about it's current form.

I had the greatest time watching this film. What a guilty pleasure.

And that "Snakes!" line had us laughing our heads off.

i think it is a good time to revisit this movie now that it is on DVD.

i had a really good time with this film. it was so much fun. i hate snakes and i think that works for this film. but, it was good, campy fun. i am surprised this didn't do better. i guess if it isn't dark and grisly then it won't be seen. and that is too bad because i think a lot of people would have got a kick out of this. despite the buzzing on the internet this should have done better. i guess it had the "Slither" syndrome.

i hope Soap finds its legs on dvd. it deserves to. and i love the Cobra Starship song. it really sounds good.

also, for those who saw the DVD, did you noticecheck it out, it was pretty funny (the flub).

Since this hit dvd I've watched it a couple of times. The first time, I wasn't that happy with it. I tried again a few days later and it really clicked with me. It's a fun movie, I definitely enjoyed it more with that second viewing.

I noticed that flub the first time I saw it. It's not hard to spot, so it's funny that they left it in.

Im hesitant to watch this again, I had such a great experience in the theater. Im afraid it will lose some of its quality viewing it again

i had the same feelings with "SLiTHER". i think some movies are just made for the comforts of home!

See, I think SoaP would suck at home, just because the only reason I enjoyed it in the theater was the rest of the audience that was hollering it up like mad, which became infectious. At home, I fear it would be too painful to watch, even if I'm watching it with 5 other people - this movie needs to be seen a theater packed with over a hundred people, preferably drunk, and going nuts.

not necessarily. it doesn't always make it better. i think those who didn't try it out in theater should try it out at home and then decide.

I watched it alone at home and haven't had such a good time with a movie in a long time. But then again I always prefer to watch movies alone

I'm watching this at home, alone, right now and I'm having a rollicking good time (even if I do check under the couch from time to time).

It's Airplane meets Lake Placid.

Pretty much with a bit of a Sci Fi original movie thrown in but...with more nudity.
This was so bad it was funny.
This is no where as good as Slither.

I loved the "motherfucking snakes" speech by SLJ, hilarious. Nobody does that better.

Fun movie and the snake effects were pretty cool. In the years to come, this will be a highly regarded cult movie.

Let's not go nuts...

Slither was a heck of a lot more original to me, SOAP just struck me as a title in search of a movie to drape over it. Amusing, but forgettable. Samuel Jackson made the flick work as well as it did. Slither was far more creative and satisfying.
