I Pledge To See SERENITY This Weekend Poll
 

Hopefully the mods won't see this as a dup thread on Serenity. Thought it would be cool if we could get a ton of DVDTalkers to pledge to see this movie over the weekend, in an attempt to get it to be the #1 film. Because, you know, if that damn Jessica Alba flick is #1, I'm not going to be able to sleep next week! :)

I am going Saturday. I can't wait!

Well if the nearby theater didn't have a month delay on their movies I'd see it but I'm not driving 120 miles round trip to see it this weekend so it will have to wait.

Wife and I will be there before supper Friday evening.

Nope. SciFi hasn't quite finished running all the shows yet.

I've heard nothing but great things about Firefly, but I've never seen an episode...the trailer for the movie looks good to me, so I will definitely check this out. Probably on Sunday. If I like the movie, then I'll probably pick up the Firefly DVD set...

I'm seeing it on Friday and Saturday for sure. If I feel the inkling, I'll go again on Sunday. Loved it and can't wait to see it again!

so can a non-fan of the tv series enjoy the movie - or will I be completely in the dark?

While I did not--and have no plans to ever--see Dukes of Hazzard, nothing I've seen about Serenity has compelled me to go and see it.

Ugh. With this (harmless) sense of obligation to make this movie number 1 for a weekend my contrarian gene has kicked in.

Screw it. I'll wait to see Serenity.

Sorry, but apparently (at least this is what I gather from reading the original poll) if you don't want to see Serenity you must be an inbred redneck hick with no sense of taste.

I've introduced four guys from work to this so we decided to all go on Friday. My wife, kids, and I are going on Saturday. That's 9 tickets this weekend I'm directly responsable for.

I have no idea. I enjoyed the episodes I saw when they originally aired but was certainly not overly impressed and left it at that.

So I guess I'll be in the dark too as I made no attempt to keep up with any of the 'correct' continuity when the DVDs were released.

At its most basic I just expect a decent sci-fi yarn. Anything after that is gravy. Any inside jokes or extensive characterizations I'll leave to the avid fans.

I'll be there Friday night and probably again next week. I've got some other movies to catch up on all day Saturday and Sunday.

Let's see.... Jessica Abla in a bikini.... or a scifi cult movie that comic book nerds have been drooling over for months...
