Is this really the only "overrated actor" thread we've ever had? I didn't expect it to be a thread bump from 14 years ago considering it's only 2 pages long.

^No doubt there are other, more substantial ones, but it seems one cannot find much with DVDTalk's unhelpful search engine. A few weeks ago I tried to find a Music Talk thread of recent vintage (can't remember now what it was; something about lyrics maybe), to add a response, but I was unable to reel it in.

He is supposed to be a comedic actor and has been in many movies the last 10 years.
I don't find him to be a funny, smart, or good actor.

Good actors who are bandied around as near perfect when people want to name great actors just for the sake of naming them

Born on the 4th of July was his Oscar bait movie but that way back in 1989.

I personally don't think Tom Cruise counts because no has ever said, "Tom Cruise - what an amazing actor!" What he does have is charisma and a good screen presence. He's capitalized quite well on playing a larger-than-life version of himself in most of his movies.

Overrated? Jennifer Lawrence.

Casey Affleck - His only ability to act is to play himself with slight alterations. IMO, Manchester was a steaming pile of garbage.

Gone Baby, Gone was the bomb, though.

I liked him in The Assassination of Jesse James, but haven't seen him in any other role that didn't make me want to punch him. Terrible actor.

I always liked him as a side-kick to Ben's movies (Good Will Hunting) but yeah, terrible leading actor. GBG was an exception.

Heath Ledger, especially as the Joker. Oh come on, you knew it was coming.

Liam Hemsworth

Maybe he is not considered a actor but he gets a lot of work these days.

I kind of did it to be goofy when the year of the thread showed up so old.
But the few I found were both hell of old.But I just did a fast search.

My list is short, some might be on my radar because they make a bunch of crappy movies, after one or two decent performances.

yeah I agree. I just do not enjoy or like most of his movies, performances.
Never did finish that Ghost movie he did.
