I sure will. I really like Wolk Creek....since I knew going into it that the first 60 mins were to establish the characters and the locations...I was prepared for a slower opening. I thought the music and framing of the location shots were terrific and helped to establish the tension of what was to take place in the last 30 mins. I have an r2 copy of Wolf Creek arriving in the next couple of days (shipped early on the 10th-thank you etailer). I'm looking forward to seeing the film again and the dvd extras....and maybe comparing the two...though it sounds like the only thing they share is the fact they are rooted in TCM and other films of outsiders being chased by the freakish locals.

wolf creek was ok. i think they took WAAAAAAY to much time setting it up. the second half was pretty good as far as gore/suspence, but i hated that the killer was always cracking jokes, i just couldn't take him serious.
as for the descent, i've been waiting for this almost as long as creep, but at least creep finally came to R1.

The Descent is set for theatrical release later this year. (US) And was set to play at Sundance, dunno if it did or not.
I would LOVE to see this movie in a packed theater, it'd either be a horrible experience or a great one. No middle ground.

I really enjoyed Creep as a home theater experience. The soundtrack was pretty cool. A fair amount of rear effects that were meant to scare had be jumping at times.
Here's a quick look at the R2 dvd of Wolf Creek that I commented on in the Int'l dvd forum:
got rec'd my R2 copy of Wolf Creek about $20 shipped during a Benson's World sale. I've had a chance to view all the extras and the movie with the exception of listening to the commentary track.
I liked the movie a lot, so I won't comment on the film...you can visit the movie talk forum for a couple of threads discussing the movie or go to Rotten Tomatoes website for a compilation of all of the reviews.
As far as the sound and PQ of this dvd it is top notch. Shot in HD, it shows in the detail throughout the film, including the night scenes. I was very impressed by the sharpness and color saturation.....natural skin tones and spot on color. As far as the extras....well nothing spectacular here. I did enjoy the appox 50+ min doc on the making of the film. One area that was really interesting was the photography and the use of HD cameras....along with the color techs. for the film...they would show a before and after on several scenes...it made me appreciate the dvd transfer even more. No extras stand out: three deleted scenes and a 20 min interview with John Jarratt , who plays Mick the killer in the film. Some of the comments were interesting, but overall pretty pedestrian stuff. Overall, I'd give the extra's a "C". Transfer an A- (slight down grade for the limited use of the rear surrounds in the soundtrack.)

An R3 of Creep comes out tomorrow. It's about $13 and seems to have all the R2 extras.

Since the US release date for this one is coming up pretty quick (August 2006 I do believe), I figured it was fine to bump this thread up. I'm really looking forward to this one, and I've purposely not watched it yet just so I can watch it on the big screen for the first time. That said, I just saw this poster on the RT forums. Please, tell me that this isn't the real official poster for this flick:

It's trying to pull this off, but...yeah:

What in the world was wrong with this one?

Finally saw it. I thought it was one of the more original horror films in recent years, as well as one of the scariest. A great balance of suspense and jumps.
For all its good qualities, I'm still a little disappointed. This could have been an instant classic, but they didn't quite hit it out of the park.
But this is not to say this is a bad movie by any means. It's just that if these issues were resolved it could have pushed the film from "very very good" to "classic".
All that said,

I need to catch the import DVD since the director changed the ending for the North American release... he said it tested better.

I bought the following version from CDWOW:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...lance&n=283926
I'm not sure what the difference is other than the cover and the release date. Maybe the one that I bought is the only with with the slip cover. I bet that's it since the picture of the one at the above link is a picture of my slipcover, and the picture of the other one is the picture of my actual DVD case that goes in the slipcover. You can pick up the one that I bought for only $13.95/shipped at CDWOW using the $2/off link, and even less if you have any vouchers.
