Tom Cruise gets paid whether you go to see the movie or not. His paycheck doesn't rely solely on your admission. He probably gets backend from ticket sales, but he's probably getting a nice chunk up front.
I really don't care if you go to see the movie or not; like you said, it's your perogative. But the idea that you wouldn't go see a movie because you don't like someone's current behaviour seems strange.
Edit to your edit: What is with this smarmy attitude? I don't give a shit if you see the movie or not. I have nothing invested in the movie, personally or financially. All I care about is if I like it.

Fine, we'll agree to disagree. I am just tired of seeing TC every damn where I look...TV, internet, newspaper, magazine, etc. Just seems to be a prime example of over-exposure and his grand-standing only worsens it. Maybe this film serves some personal reference for him since he is confident "we are not alone".

Really, the wife and I can use the corporate pass and go for free to the Regal cinema but for the average couple here in tourist town:
2 tickets at $9= $18
2 drinks/popcorn = $10 if you're lucky
$28 plus ringing cell phones and people yapping during the film.

Ok. You're right. I'd wait too.

the water squirters have shown the world that tom can be quite a cool guy. so let him believe what he wants and don't hate him for being honest about them.

Yes the media loves talking about it but he also uses the media to promote his thoughts that consistently involve professing love, religion and his thoughts on aliens, I just have to question the need for that. Next he'll be discussing his toilet paper preference at this pace.
I'll bet TC loves being lumped in whacko status with Jacko

No sense factoring in concessions, they're not required. Just don't eat or drink (especially unhealthy soda and popcorn) during the movie or sneak in your own).
Then you have $18 for 2 people, which I think is well worth it for a movie on the big screen. Even better go to an early showing and get in for $2 or 3 bucks less a piece when it's much less crowded thus elminating the cell phones and people yapping most of the times.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Summer movies. Drops aren't anything uncommon for summer films since it's usually back to back blockbusters.
Though, I have to wonder if Fantastic Four will actually come in second next week.

It's hard to believe a studio would put out a lesser comic book movie (compared to Super & Bat) and not have a big star headlining it.
I mean most regular people who don't keep up with movie news etc. probably don't have a clue who any of these people are.
I also doubt anyone who watched The Commish on TV years ago will be seeing it either.
They are going to lose a lot of money on FF.

The Commish may be very old, but The Shield is new and in the minds of many fans who will relate Michael Chiklis with it. nip/tuck has the relation of Julian McMahon. So it's an F/X filled movie.
Toss in Jessica Alba who is established enough from Sin City and her past along as head lining an upcoming film that she can take it.
Again, anything not gained in domestic box office will be brought in through DVD sales, international take in and merchindise alone. I mean, it's not like SBC is using all that for their wireless ads.
So even without a big hollywood A lister cast, the movie is getting enough promotion.
