The stupid thing is if he changed it to Ben Kenobi to go into hiding... how many other Kenobi's are there in teh galaxy? Real original thinking on the part of a jedi.

Speaking of which, in Ep 4, wouldn't you think Vader would have been interested in seeing the old stomping grounds? Maybe he could have taken a detachment down and wiped out a Tusken Raider village or two - for old times sake.

1. It's not part of the Republic and is far away from everything.
2. There's no possible reason for Vader to ever go there -- it's got nothing but painful memories for him.

But then again in Epi IV, he didnt know Luke was alive. He thought Padme died while still preggers since that is how he saw her before he was changed on Mustafar and was told shortly after that she died. She also still appeared pregnant while being buried to hide the truth.

Because he's Luke SKYWALKER -- Vader figures out that he's his son, captures his friends, uses them as bait, and interrupts Luke's training on Dagobah.
If he were Luke LARS or Luke SMITH, I'm not convinced it would have happened.

"That's the system. The Rebels are there. And I'm sure Skywalker is with them."
Again, if the guy who blew up the Death Star had been named Lars or something, I think it might have helped.

Vader had no reason to look for his kid(s). He thought they died with Padme. The emperor just told him he killed her in his anger, so he would have assumed she died then and there.
Hearing that Luke Skywalker blew up the death star was the first he likely thought about it after that.

Then he starts putting it together...Obi-Wan returns, he feels someone else that is strong in the Force, it must be someone Obi-Wan is training. Maybe he doesn't think it's his son at first, but he definately sees him as a possible Jedi, or Sith with proper training.

Obi Wan to Ben is like Superman putting on glasses, in the Star Wars Universe.
"Whoa..where'd he go.. Clark, ya seen that super-guy?!?!"
I think it's funny they call Old Ben Kenobi a crazy wizard. Like the commoners caught him using the force and explained it away as "wizard powers."
