New James Bond Announced......ORLANDO BLOOM.
It's actor Orlando Bloom. Catch is he will be playing Bond during his school years.
Orlando Bloom is to play the new James Bond.
However, the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' heartthrob will not be replacing Pierce Brosnan as 007 - instead he will star in a movie about the suave spy' s younger days.
A source at Hollywood studios Miramax, who are making the film, revealed: "The story that Orlando will play Bond is true but we are doing a rather novel film about the young James Bond.
"The author, Ian Fleming, never really got into this period of his character 's life, but he did mention in 'You Only Live Twice' that Bond attended Fettes College, having been expelled from Eton.
Charlie Higson, who is writing the screenplay, has woven a wonderful tale around this." Miramax believe Orlando - who was recently tipped to take over from Pierce Brosnan in the regular Bond films - will be perfect for the role.
The Lord of the Rings star will play Bond in his younger years studying at Eton.
It is as yet unknown who will take Pierce Brosnan's place in the next Bond movie, Casino Royale, directed by Martin Campbell

He said he WOULD do it, IF they went back to the basics of the original Connery films. You know when Bond was a SPY. The producers don't want any part of it, they want bigger, louder, and more explosions. So they are looking for someone new.

Owen Finally Confirmed as Sixth Bond?
Source: IESB March 29, 2005
After years of rumor and speculation, actor Clive Owen may finally have been nailed down for the role that everyone on the planet seems to think he should play!
The Movie Reporter at IESB has a picture of Owen with the enigmatic caption:
"BREAKING NEWS Clive Owen confirmed to be the next James Bond? More Details to Follow 3/28/05"
If what currently is still just a rumor turns out to be true, Owen will follow the likes of Sean Connery, Roger Moore and most recently Pierce Brosnan as agent 007 in the upcoming adaptation of Ian Fleming's Casino Royale, the 21st James Bond film. That title was originally used for a 1967 spy spoof starring Peter Sellers, David Niven and Woody Allen, but this would be the first time that Fleming's novel would be given the "Broccoli treatment."
Martin Campbell, who directed Owen with Angelina Jolie in Beyond Borders, has already been hired to direct the 21st Bond film.

A headline with a ? doesn't mean anything. I could write an article titled George W. Bush has converted to Hinduism?, everybody buys the paper to read it, only to find that all I say is: "No."

I've said since Croupier first came out, that Owen was born to play Bond. But Clive Owen was just on the Charlie Rose show yesterday saying how he had no desire to play Bond at all & it was not the type of movie he ever had interest in making. He also said he has never even received so much as a phone call asking him about the part. Maybe it was just an act but it sure sounded convincing.

Cult film director, Quentin Tarantino claims James Bond bosses have made a mistake by dumping Pierce Brosnan as 007.
The Kill Bill director had been desperate to remake Casino Royale with Brosnan in the lead. But the film is going ahead with neither Tarantino nor Brosnan on board.
Producers are now deciding who will become the new Bond with Clive Owen among the favourites for the role.
Casino Royale was author Ian Fleming's first Bond book and is one of Tarantino's all-time favourites.
Speaking at the Empire awards in London Tarantino said: "I would have liked to do Casino Royale with Pierce Brosnan.
"But once I heard Brosnan isn't going to be doing any more Bond films, that killed it as far as I was concerned.
"Over the course of time he's really proven himself to me as the James Bond for this generation."
Tarantino said he would still like to work with Brosnan on a future film.
The Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs director also revealed that his favourite film of 2004 was low budget British zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead.
"He can really pull off that 60s thing that Casino Royale would have - it's not just about a guy trying to take over the world, with speeding trains and action sequences, it should be more like the book.

Maybe they can get Vin Diesel or Bernie Mac to play Bond while they are at it.

Frankly, I have not enjoyed the franchise since I was a 14 or so. The proposed film about Bond's early years is the first Bond film that has caught my interest in a looooong time.
