All of these ideas sound stupid as hell to me. How about just making a decent spy flick (ala From Russia With Love / Dr. No) with a decent actor.

Bond as a youth? Yeah, that'll be great!

In 1986 Gil Bettman made a film called Never to young to die. It was about the son of james bond. After filming, they bailed out of the Bond
namesake (though George Lazenby still plays the father) It's not good...not at all. And as the action figure has shown a cartoon series was developed as well. Not the first time a young bond has hit the scene, and I doubt this one will be any better than the last.

Never Too Young to Die At IMDB

For those who would discount this....
Bettman talks about this in his book: First Time Director: How to make your breakthrough movie page 42

Clive Owen would be absolutely perfect as Bond, and I've thought so since Croupier. But I sincerely hope that he doesn't do it. He's destined for better things.

So is this another misleading thread? Seems like it.

The internet and its messageboards are supposed to be a source for fact, not rumor!

I wonder how effective that book is at making a "first breakthrough film"?

I still think it should be Christian Bale, but not yet. Owen will do fine in the meantime.

Must every James Bond movie contain the word, or some variation of, "DIE" or "KILL"?

Bah, young James Bond? Well, as long as that keeps Orlando from being the real James Bond, I guess it's ok, but I could live a long happy life never watching a film about that.

As for the next James Bond, I too am disheartened Brosnan won't be back. He owns that role, and I would just love to see a great Bond film with him starring. His films have been lackluster, even if I think he is great in the role. Oh well, stupid decisions, he wants to much money, whatever the reason it's still a shame.

Here's a question, how does Miramax even have the rights to do a young James Bond movie? I don't know of anything that Eon/MGM didn't have regarding Bond's rights and if I find it unlikely that they would license out such a movie to another studio. If they don't have license, then getting around copyright infringement would be difficult.

It's not a bad read....uses alot of recent movies to show how camera moves work, and what not....it gushes to much on Zemeckis and Spielburg...but worth checking out of your library for a read.

I would like to see George Lucas do some Bond prequels.

While he's at it, maybe he can go back and spruce up the old ones. I thought it unnecessary that Bond shot that one guy just because he was going for his gun. A true hero always lets the bad guy get off at least one shot (because in real life we all know they'll miss). And Miramax better have a minimum of 3 poo poo/fart/burp jokes or my kids won't live the experience.

Looks like this whole Bond thing really is over.

Who the fuck does Tarantino thinks he is? His style of films aren't like James Bond, his films are unique but no fucking way should he leech onto James Bond.

Yeah, QT. You were really in the running. Good thing you ducked out.

Next thought: I still think that Colin Farrell would be good, in a few years. Perhaps even Gerard Butler. Clive Owen may be good, I haven't really seen enough of him.

Next: Young James Bond? Damnit, why can't I get this image to work?

Next: Orlando Bloom was great in LOTR. However he was very distractingly horrible in the otherwise enjoyable Pirates of the Carribean.
