Wow - thanks for posting it!

I'll post this in the other devolving thread too, but...

Spoiler:
Are Sidious and Palpatine really the same person? The description seems to suggest that perhaps they are not...

Unless there is some very creative editing, they are the same.

And that's how Vader is posed! Maybe it isn't such an odd thing.

I remember those erasers! Had the R2 one myself. They seemed to tear paper a lot though; guess they were meant to impress and little else.

Yep, they are. That was something GL thought he made obvious enough in TPM, but not many people caught on to it.

No, I caught onto it. But having not seen the trailer, only hearing/reading about it, it seems like he morphs quickly into the old Palpy we knew in the OT. Guess I'll find out why/how...

I think the Palp look is only to hide his true form. When he is outed, there is no need to continue hiding.

my favorite line in the new trailer.

"YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE!" -Obi Wan

AFter the first two films with their averageness and below average acting, i was tugged by that line from Ewan Mcgreggor (sorry if i spelled name wrong), but yea, it looks awesome.

I think he explains his form to the public by
Spoiler:
claiming the Jedi attacked him and used evil powers on him or something.

He's an emporer and a dictator. Why should he care what the public thinks about his appearance?

Maybe to quell support for the Rebellion? Real-life dictators use propaganda all the time to boost their image. Making up a story that portrays the kind, benevolent Emperor as a victim of the cruel, heartless Jedi would just help keep public opinion on his side.

I also don't understand the Emperor's looks. He looks like he weighs 300 lbs. or something... Strange. He looks vastly different at multiple points in the trailer. There's the red robed Palpatine, the red robed emperor and the black robed emperor who fights with Yoda in the senate and honestly no two of them look the same.

Is it possible Palpatine does have a clone???

I think the best theory is that when the emperor is in sith mode, his body appears to be decaying (like his body can't take all the dark side force vibe), but when he's not in sith mode, his body appears normal, although the more he's in sith mode, the more he ages and decays.

The general idea is that the more darkside of the force you use, the more decaying you look. There was talk that the look he had in Episode I opposed to Episode II was because he was carrying on the mask and it was sort of making him older (besides it taking place 10 years later). But when he lets loose with the juice his apperance shows that whole darkside and sith decaying look. So it's along those lines indeed ranger.

Does the emperor have two different offices? I assume that he will take on all four jedi by himself in office A, but when he fights Yoda in office B, he has some red guards around.

The same could be said for many men though, it's just natural.

Oh wait, wrong topic!!!

I just wanted a brief synopsis without wading through the "Star Wars sucks!!!" bullshit that the other thread has become. I'll find it elsewhere. Thanks though.

Not only is it not possible, but it's dumb. I remember someone throwing that theory out a long time ago, and it was dumb then as well.

Around TPM, it seemed half of everyone though Palpy and Sidious were some sort of clones. I'm surprised people are still thinking it though, of course, I was surprised back then as well.

Sure, we now how it turns out in the movie.

But otherwise, it could be possible, and it could be "not dumb".

I just watched the trailer. Lucas can't do romantic stuff worth a damn and the humorous material can be forced but drama, action and Shakespearean-esque tragedy?...I think he's going to give us the goods this time. It looks impressive and very potent.
