Well I wasn't talking about you. I said in my post (the part you quoted actually) that I wasn't talking about people who were disapointed, but at people who continually say how much they hate the new movies. If you still enjoy the mythology enough to buy the movies, you still like them on some level.

As someone else said. He just comes of as Sam Jackson, not as Mace Windu. Just seems like he's being himself rather than acting or something.

That's like saying Will Smith only plays Will Smith. Though in all truths, he isn't playing himself or else he would actually laugh a bit more. He comes off as a serious character and by now, Sam Jackson is just viewed as that badass character.

Works out fine with me, looks like folks just want to bitch about something for the general reason of bitching about something.

Yup. I LOVE him in Jackie Brown, but I really think he is one of the most overrated actors today. Him being in these movies for me, everytime I see him I just see Sam Jackson, it sucks me out of the movie, he doesn't seem like he is trying to play a character or become a role, he seems like Sam Jackson in a Star Wars movie.

And Jack, just b/c somone doesn't agree with you, doesn't mean they are bitching about something for the sake of bitching about something, & you are the last guy that should be saying something like that. I don't like him in the film, & I can explain my reasons why.

Jackson's one of my favorite actors. IMO, he plays funny and serious roles well. I thought some of his dialogue in TPM was a bit weak, but the same can be said about much of that movie (Well, except Darth Sidious ). He was much better in AOTC.

I was finally able to download this. All I can say is, hell yeah! At the same time, I said the same thing about TPM's trailer, so I'm still a little wary. The trick will be to see if those scenes between Anakin and Padme that we saw so little of will actually be good the whole way through.

I also don't understand the criticism of jackson. Mace Windu is a soft spoken, mild mannered jedi who can destroy everything when he is so motivated. He's not supposed to be over the top, he's 'supposed' to be wooden and stern. Jedi have no emotion and are at balance and jackson exemplifies that in this role. He's doing a good job IMHO and I thought he was one of the highlights of EP2.

Cygnet, are you running for president? You've been more Star Wars centric of late instead of your usual SW slamming stuff. I think the point Terrell was trying to make before, is that he could understand a fan who disagreed with a movie coming into a chat board and saying 'I didn't like that' once or twice, but not continually and over and over again... It becomes thread crappy. Take me for instance, I have left the 'I Hate Star Wars' thread never to return...

I don't know about his role in Star Wars, but more often than not directors will create a character with an certain actor in mind and when asked for direction they'll simply state "Be Sam Jackson."

At first I thought the Vader-crossing-his-arms things at the end of the trailer was odd.

But I go here today http://x-entertainment.com/articles/0926/

And that's how Vader is posed! Maybe it isn't such an odd thing.

Kerborus, I enjoy discussing both what I like and don't like about the Star Wars films. if you want to complain that pointing out flaws is some sort of unwarranted bashing, go right ahead, but remember that you're more off topic than the posts you're criticizing as "threadcraps".

Vader crossing his arms reminded me exactly of the guards crossing their arms in the war room from ANH.
Is Sidious going to have any help from his red/blue guards against the jedi confronting him?

Spoiler:
Still frame through the trailer when Sideous is throwing the lightning at Yoda. Look behind Yoda and you'll see one of the red guards crumpled to the floor. I think he had to kill a few of 'em to get into the room.

This really looked awesome especially the emperor. I am thinking though that there will be definitely a surprise with Palapatine/Emperor.

When is that? around 2:09 on the trailer? Kind of difficult to tell. I have the avi file, so it might be a little difficult to see the frame clearly, guess I'll try grab the mov file later.

also: what is happening around 1:39? like something crawling on the floor? I can't tell what that is.

No. 1:59-2:00. At 1:39? That's Anakin leading the Clone Troopers. It's a birds-eye view of the shot immediately following.

So what would be a convincing acting job for someone who wears a robe and uses a mystical "force" and welds a weapon of light? Not saying that it can't be done. Just I'm not sure everyone has the same idea on what exactly would make a convincing acting job for the task at hand.

If he was making more smartass jokes while killing creatures and sith then I would agree with the statement that Sam Jackson is just playing Sam Jackson. But he's not. convincing or not, he's playing it pretty serious take of a jedi master. Never seems to crack a smile, very quiet. Carries himself pretty well in a situation. Is he badass? Yeah. but he isn't the same sort of badass as he is in say Pulp Fiction or Die Hard 3.

And Jack, just b/c somone doesn't agree with you, doesn't mean they are bitching about something for the sake of bitching about something, & you are the last guy that should be saying something like that. I don't like him in the film, & I can explain my reasons why.
And I just pointed out why he isn't playing the typical Sam Jackson character. Your reasons for not liking him don't add up, or at the very least don't describe themselves other than "he's playing Sam Jackson". You guys are complaining (or in another word... Bitching) about him just playing it straight. It comes across as you just don't like him as an actor.
everytime I see him I just see Sam Jackson,
Well... look at that, guess that is the reason why. You wont bother giving him a shot either because of that quote. Could you put a fro on him and get the same character you got from Pulp Fiction? He may not be convincing, but I think Sam jackson is far below on the list of terrible actors in these films. He atleast doesn't come off as a stiff or delivers his lines with some life to them. Your opinion on him being overrated plays a part in your dislike for him and the reason you explain your dislike for him being "Because he's Sam Jackson and is overrated" doesn't hold water unless you explain that whole overrated aspect. Though I always disliked the word overrated because it's pretty vauge and doesn't really mean much since... who the fuck is rating them? sounds like "he was cool when only I liked him, but now that everyone else likes him I don't think he's cool anymore" mentality.

Our opinions may vary, but to start nitpicking Sams role simply because he is playing sam does seem unneeded.

1:39 - ohh, d'oh! Okay, I finally got the big mov file. Did manage to find the red guard on the floor shot. Very quick shot. mov file was much easier to scan through the frames. Thanks!

I cannot wait to see the sceen when the Emperor attacks the Jedi when they come in to arrest him.

They movie does have a much darker look/theme than any of the other movies.

Man, does Vader look cool. He looks more streamlined, his armor is very samurai-looking in that shot.

PJ, use quicktime alternative. Tell the installer to use media classic player. You can play movs in full screen.

Umm, that alt.binaries post is bogus. I found nothing on there remotely related to star wars.
