Anyone else looking forward to Unleashed?

There were threads about this last year... used to be called Danny the Dog. So yeah, there's been people looking forward to it. I've been really anxious to see this and I agree with you that it's got potential to push Jet Li to the next level with american audiences.

I'm looking forward to it as well. First saw the trailer on the Shaun of the Dead R1 DVD. Didn't know about the original title. I like all the Frankenstein refferences in it. May be Jet Li's most unique film.

Yeah I've been waiting to see this for a couple of years now. Can't believe that it's finally coming out!

I first saw the trailer a while back, but I saw it again before Ong-Bak. I'm hoping, actually, that it has what I thought Ong-Bak was lacking: an interesting story. I realize that films like these are often just showcases forthe stars amazing athletic feats, but I like martial arts flicks that have an interesting story as well.

The trailer is here. It looks pretty impressive and might even be Jet Li's crowning achievement.
What do you think?

There is just something wonderfully absurd about a movie starring Morgan Freeman, Jet Li, & Bob Hoskins (one of the truly underrated actors today).
And I swear the first time I saw the trailer in the theaters it had a different name.

I saw this tonight at a pre-screening.
It was a decent movie. The story was kind of weak but you don't go to a Jet Li movie to see a great story, you go to see Jet Li kick butt which he definitely does in this movie.
2.5 out of 4 stars.

I really hope this is a good movie. But as we all know, trailers can be very deceiving.
Jet Li is too talented a martial artist to be wasted on most of the films he's done.
I'd hate to see him go down the shitter like Steven Seagal did.

Just want to see him kick some ass.
In terms of concern about Jet Li picking the wrong roles and being wasted in certain films, I think "Hero" showed he has the ability to do more than just chop-saki action stuff.

He still kicks ass, but UNLEASHED gives him more to do, even more than HERO. He plays a sympathetic role for once, and his performance is really interesting. He's an innocent, yet the film is sure to make the audience understand that Danny is a threat as well.
It's a great movie - well done all around. Hopefully Li can build from this into different things.

Lets see:
Rated R and violent: Yep
Story about a human raised like an animal to fight others: Sounds cool
Martial Arts w/ Jet Li: Yep
The Great Bob Hoskins as a bad guy: Love it
Morgan Freeman: Another plus
Am I anticipating this?
Does a blind man need to smell his toilet paper after he's wiped his ass to know he's clean?

Me too.
The first longish Danny the Dog trailer was one of the best trailers I've seen in a while. The newer trailers are spoiling too much so I stopped watching them.
One of the few films I'm looking forward to.
