Anyone else looking forward to Unleashed?

New movie with Jet Li, Morgan Freeman and Bob Hoskins. Written by Luc Besson of Leon fame.
The trailer is here. It looks pretty impressive and might even be Jet Li's crowning achievement.

What do you think?

There were threads about this last year... used to be called Danny the Dog. So yeah, there's been people looking forward to it. I've been really anxious to see this and I agree with you that it's got potential to push Jet Li to the next level with american audiences.

RocShemp 03-02-05 06:35 AM

I'm looking forward to it as well. First saw the trailer on the Shaun of the Dead R1 DVD. Didn't know about the original title. I like all the Frankenstein refferences in it. May be Jet Li's most unique film.

Geofferson 03-02-05 09:21 AM

Looks very promising!

Mondo Kane 03-02-05 11:43 AM

Yeah I've been waiting to see this for a couple of years now. Can't believe that it's finally coming out!

Amel 03-02-05 06:46 PM

yes! I'm looking forward to it. I've seen a few trailers and some stuff online for the past few months. It looks like it could be great.

Freeman & Hoskins is all I need to hear. I'm there.

I first saw the trailer a while back, but I saw it again before Ong-Bak. I'm hoping, actually, that it has what I thought Ong-Bak was lacking: an interesting story. I realize that films like these are often just showcases forthe stars amazing athletic feats, but I like martial arts flicks that have an interesting story as well.

Hell yes, can't wait.

There is just something wonderfully absurd about a movie starring Morgan Freeman, Jet Li, & Bob Hoskins (one of the truly underrated actors today).

And I swear the first time I saw the trailer in the theaters it had a different name.

Third Baseman 03-02-05 08:50 PM

Oh hells yes, I am.

Dabaomb 05-12-05 12:06 AM

I saw this tonight at a pre-screening.

It was a decent movie. The story was kind of weak but you don't go to a Jet Li movie to see a great story, you go to see Jet Li kick butt which he definitely does in this movie.

2.5 out of 4 stars.

QuiGonJosh 05-12-05 05:51 AM

I've been waitin for this flick for what seems like an eternity! Jet Li and Morgan Freeman in the same flick, with Bob Hoskins kickin it hardcore has the villian! You can't go wrong!

ytrez 05-12-05 06:44 AM

This looks much better than Jet Li's typical American movies. I'm looking forward to it.

AsmodeusVice 05-12-05 07:19 AM

I really hope this is a good movie. But as we all know, trailers can be very deceiving.

Jet Li is too talented a martial artist to be wasted on most of the films he's done.

I'd hate to see him go down the shitter like Steven Seagal did.

KurtR 05-12-05 07:26 AM

Been looking forward to this for a while. Nothing would make me happier than seeing Li in a big blockbuster.

Dr. DVD 05-12-05 08:00 AM

Just want to see him kick some ass.

In terms of concern about Jet Li picking the wrong roles and being wasted in certain films, I think "Hero" showed he has the ability to do more than just chop-saki action stuff.

QuiGonJosh 05-12-05 08:17 AM

From the reviews I've read the action is very hard and violent in a realistic manor, it's been compared to Ong-Bak in it's execution. I can't wait to see it tomorrow!

Giantrobo 05-12-05 08:20 AM

Not particularly

He still kicks ass, but UNLEASHED gives him more to do, even more than HERO. He plays a sympathetic role for once, and his performance is really interesting. He's an innocent, yet the film is sure to make the audience understand that Danny is a threat as well.

It's a great movie - well done all around. Hopefully Li can build from this into different things.

naitram 05-12-05 03:59 PM

Not really a Jet Li fan, but Bob Hoskins would get me to see this one. He's the freakin man! :hump:

AeroStone 05-12-05 04:09 PM

Lets see:

Rated R and violent: Yep
Story about a human raised like an animal to fight others: Sounds cool
Martial Arts w/ Jet Li: Yep
The Great Bob Hoskins as a bad guy: Love it
Morgan Freeman: Another plus

Am I anticipating this?

Does a blind man need to smell his toilet paper after he's wiped his ass to know he's clean?

BT 05-12-05 04:13 PM

Yes.

CheapBastid 05-12-05 04:59 PM

Me too.

The first longish Danny the Dog trailer was one of the best trailers I've seen in a while. The newer trailers are spoiling too much so I stopped watching them.

One of the few films I'm looking forward to.

marty888 05-12-05 05:10 PM

Been looking forward to this ever since first seeing the trailer several months ago.
